Over 1,100 were registered. The brief speechmaking was to start at 7. We're home, switching between baseball and the swimming trials. Please tell.

Too eager for your reports, too distracted by swimmers. The bride just said, "You posted what? It's tomorrow night." So I guess the speeches will be done in a little over 23 hours.

I found the swimmers quite distracting as well......

Are they playing before or after the Good Ol' Boys?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

!!! BBQ UPDATE !!!
oldsters are assembling en masse well before the scheduled start of the bbq.

This oldster chronologically advanced fan is running the sprinklers on the parched home lawns, then setting off for the train station to pick up our commuter, then waiting p-a-t-i-e-n-t-l-y for your commentary.

Just got back.  Hot night kept crowd lower than past.  Homer introduced the pres, AD and Buzz.  Buzz was very funny and went through the tough November schedule.  Introduced Vander, Junior, Jamil and Derik Wilson, Anderson, Gardner and Otule.  Despite the heat it was fun.  Saw the players all entering Humphrey as we drove on 17th from the parking structure.

I forgot to mention 88 year old Father Kelley who is recovering from hip surgery said a short prayer exempting those who Buzz said probably forgot to say grace before eating tonight.

the BBQ sucked.   Buzz didn't show until just before he talked on stage, used to be there early and would talk with everyone.  None of Buzz's family was there.  Not many players there.  No Mayo.   Buzz acted like he just met Pilarz or Williams.   LW tried to suck up to Buzz for the intro.

No positive vibes.

Buzz was there early and signed autographs and posed for pictures near the enterance across from Joan of Arc. Also there was Acker, Burke, Trend, Jerel, Wesley, Jake Thomas, Junior, Jamil, Derek, Vander, Davante, Juan, Chris Otule. Chew and Autry were there. I am sure I am missing some, though I did not see Mayo. It was hot and numbers were down but it was still a very nice event.

Was it catered by SAGA?

MattyWarrior

Buzz was signing autographs for kids and taking pics for at least an hour as soon as he walked in.His kid is sick and fam stayed home. The only guys not there were the new recruits and Mayo. The wife and I had a good time, tho the turnout was low.

Food was from Bubb's Big Texas Style BBQ. Same as last year and I thought it was good. Opening night of Summerfest may have affected turnout, but I thought there was a positive vibe. Great of them to put it on. Buzz talked about the difficult schedule, especially the month of November, but I'm excited for the season.
