Warthog is probably 1000' over someplace where none of us want to be right now... hopefully kicking the snot out of some militant fundamentalists.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

So now that it's pretty obvious that Hoop is Chicos, is it weird that we even care?

The scoop is a strange place.

As requested, I split this thread into a new one right at the point things went to complete hell.  The original topic probably still has some garbage in it, but this should be good enough.

Warthog hasn't been banned in the past year, and to finally answer some questions, neither was willie warrior.  Sometimes people (especially warthog randomly) seem to go on sabbatical...moreso when Marquette isn't playing any bball.

Chicos, I'll try to get back to you later this weekend (it's Friday night, no time to be doing 'scoop work), but the basic answer is, it's not just "possibly".  I have theorized many times that you do know the guy that owns the 'hoop' account, and he lets you use it.  At the very least, I do have proof that on at least 3 occasions you two (one of your aliases + hoop) have accessed scoop from the same IP address within minutes of each other.

And if you were both posting from an arena, I'd expect a few other names to come up.

Sorry, there may be 2 people, but something doesn't add up.

And lets see, that IP is owned by, oh, the Direct TV group...ChicosBailBonds had over 1600 posts from that IP address, nobody other than ChicosBailBonds, ChicoBailBondz, CBB, and Hoopaloop ever used that specific IP.

But...but...but... Hughes Electronics/DirectTV employs over 25k people!  Surely, there's a few MU alumni that work there.

Having been on rocky's end of IP searches before, that's not a smoking gun, that's a smoking gun covered in fingerprints with 3 eye-witnesses and a video tape of the incident. The holiday beer meeting would explain one of those, but not 3 that are all months apart.

I didn't believe CBB and Hoop were the same guy. No longer. Unless they are roommates and co-workers at the same office branch, there's no logical explanation for that. Especially living 2,000 miles apart as "they" claim.

Can we archive those posts in one area? When the board melts down after a loss, it would be nice to go to those for a little pick-me-up.

I'd agree, except those were all after the pre-Disney meeting according to Hoop's post (Nov 2011).

His love for Marquette hasn't changed as one visit to his house (we saw him earlier this year on the way to Disneyland) will attest.

There's probably more, but I stopped after I found those 3.   Let me say though, I have no personal issues with Chicos, and as he mentioned, next time he has time in the Denver area I'd have a beer with him - we have talked about that privately.  I think everyone knows he is a huge MU hoops fan, and was a valuable member here, and on the earliest MU forums practically since they've been around.    However, in the past few years he's attracted negative attention on the forums like a lightening rod, and rather than ignoring it, seems to thrive on it and promote it.  That makes the moderators jobs more difficult, and led to me banning him a little less than a year ago.

I don't want to rehash the debate of the (in/)correctness of that action.  Just trying to clarify that it's not a personal thing, except I'll call him on it if I think he's trying to sneak around and pretend to be someone else.  I also wouldn't normally make it as public, but as moderators sometimes we would need to delete chico's inflammatory posts, and he'd continue yelling about ghosts in the machine.  I took that as his preference for all of this to be a public ceremony.  So...there it is.

Chicos, hit me up for that beer when you're around.  We'll share some stories too.  Just don't try to post as r0cky_warrior  :D

Oh, and yes, I'll still hold my end of the TC/Indiana bet.  Not going to purchase any IU gear until the last minute, but I'll finally admit that it's looking like like I was wrong.

Seriously, how narcissistic do you have to be to open a new account, and then use the new account to say things like "If his Facebook is any indication, he looks like he has an overload of friends."

I mean...my goodness.

99% of the time, the simplest answer is the correct one. The only question here is which is the simpler scenario, Chicos creating an active backup account in case he was banned, or Hoop sharing his account info with Chicos. I guess it would depend on when CBB accessed Hoop's account. If the first time was the December after the beer summit, assuming CBB had already been banned, I'd guess the shared account. If it was before the November summit, it would seem to be one user with two accounts.

Either way, definitive evidence that at least at times, Hoop and Chicos were one in the same.

Since we haven't heard a sound since this great detective work, does that mean that he, I mean, all of them, no just he has been banned?  Or are they just assembling for a beer summit to discuss an appropriate response?

Seriously, just wondering if all of Chico's posting tree has been banned or he / they is / are just taking a break?

So help out a guy who's computer illiterate. On a number of occasions over the past year Chicos and Hoopaloop have posted from the same IP address within minutes of one another. Does this mean they're posting from the same computer? Different computers that are physically close by? Or something else? Thanks.

Same IP address = same computer, logging in under different usernames.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.
