I looked at the teams ahead of us in the poll. While we have a home game with Northern Illinois this week, which should be a comfortable win (though not based on our first buy games)...

• 19 Auburn, 22 UConn, and 31 Michigan State are in Atlantis, where the favorite is Baylor.
  
• 21 Seton Hall, 23 Florida, and 28 Ohio State are in Fort Myers.
  
• 25 Xavier and 27 Virginia Tech are at Barclays where the favorite is Memphis.
  
• 26 Oregon is at Maui in Vegas, where the favorite is probably Houston.

That's 9 teams playing in major events where at least 5 of them will take a loss. That total will likely be higher and some will take multiple losses. There's a chance we will either be ranked or really close to knocking on that door if we handle NIU on Saturday.

Though seriously, that might make it harder to move up. If you're getting 41 points from 15 different ballots, that's 15 voters that have you on their radar. When it's only 7 like this week, you have no idea if the other voters are even considering you. It's possible we're team 26 on a lot of ballots, but also possible we're team #50 on those as well and no real threat to move in.

Another interesting voter is Bob Ballou of Austin who clearly has Shaka on his radar.  No votes from Ben Steele.  That's fine.  I wonder what his philosophy is --- does he wait for a critical mass before joining in?  I can see not wanting to be first because of how close he is to the situation.
