The fact that this thread has posts from Wojo's final year shows how quickly fortunes can change within a season.  Hopefully Shaka doesn't wane as the season finishes.

The defense will get better.  The offense will incrementally get better.   They have pretty damn good young players.  This team will continue to play better.  I don't think anything will wane this year like in years past.  I just hope we pick off enough victories early on in the season to have our late season SURGE count.  So far so good.  Let's get WV!

82! Every time someone bumps this thread with games still left to play before the next rankings we lose the next game! Hopefully we buck the trend but if we don't, the loss is on you  ;D

Almost as bad as the guys who start a SOTG thread before a game is over.  It's bad mojo!
Have some patience, FFS.

If we win 1 of our next 2, regardless of order, we will be ranked.
I still think we'll be in Monday's Top 25 regardless of what happens against Bonnies.

If we beat St Bonaventure, I would not be surprised to see us higher than 20.

VanderBlueFanClub

It matters what happens against Bonnies.

Settle down boys.

Ok fine just to appease you

If Marquette loses to Saint Bonaventure, which is a huge reach...

25.

I'll accept all credit for the victory.

I'll be happy with some votes at least. Took until Year 5 of the Wojo Era to get a single one.

Let's revisit what you said, TAMU:

We won the "next game" with an impressive rally that sent the mountain mamas back to almost heaven. We "bucked the trend." So again ...

Is it too much to think that a win on Sunday puts MU in the top 10? It's early so it doesn't matter too much in the long run, but it would be cool and a good early reward for the team. I've gone through the other power conference teams and it looks like MU has the best resume/wins by a pretty significant margin. Feel free to correct me, but I don't see anyone as being remotely close especially with a win on Sunday.

Yes. Though we're two weeks away from another cluster of 3 high major teams and that could do it if we don't crap the bed.

If we win I think we will definitely among the top of others getting votes . Probably will be in 24 or 25 . Depends on if the others in the poll ahead lose.

Hard to imagine not being top 20 with a win over a ranked team for the second time in a week to cap a 6-0 start. MU has been receiving some national pub because the media likes the Shaka story, and the win over Illinois gave instant credibility.

Probably too many undefeated teams between us and the top 15 to make that big a leap, though stranger things have happened.

Looking forward to beating the Bonnies so we can really start speculating!

Ugh. Just a quick look.

I think we need to beat the Bonnie's to be ranked.

Who falls out? Maryland and Ohio state?

No one else in the top 25 lost this week.

wadesworld

There's become such an emphasis on KenPom numbers and MU sits in the 70s on that. We will be left off of a lot of ballots.

Maryland at 20 will definitely fall out losing to George Mason.

Bonnies at 22 would probably fall out losing to us too.

If we won, we'd clearly jump those two and then probably about 6 others

I'd guess @Tamu and @brew77 would know. But are we still in that part of Kenpom where the algorithm hasn't adjusted yet for new players/freshmen?

The numbers don't fully eliminate the past season until January. If we win tomorrow, I do think we'll be ranked, but as wades notes, we will be left off a number of ballots.
