Big opportunity week for moving up. We have a cupcake and home game against a top 15 team. A few of the teams in front us are playing some top teams and some sneaky good buy games. Everything comes up Marquette and we could be looking at a top 15 ranking.

We should pass Kentucky this week.  I watched their game with Seton Hall and was unimpressed.

And some UK fan on the college basketball subreddit said that UK would beat MU 6 out of 7 times because a) Hagans would shut down Howard and b) they're taller than us (is that even true?). What a load of crap.

I tend to disagree. UK is 1-2 vs top-100 kenpom teams with the only win over #99 Greensboro. Their worst loss is to a Seton Hall team whose results haven't matched ours. Meanwhile, our two losses are better than their worst loss and we have three top-50 wins, three more than UK. Sizewise, Hagans is taller than Howard, but we're within an inch (some taller, some shorter) at every other position. I think it'd be close in a seven game series, and think our defense would give us a slight edge, but probably a coin flip.

I'm right there with you.  Kentucky hasn't shown anything yet.

I hope we draw them in the tourney.  Besides the Hagans decision to pick UK over us, there's also the simmering feud between the Hausers and Herro that would be fun to see on the court.  Plus, UNC-Nova (and UK-UL) are closing in on our "most matchups all-time in the tourney" record.

Why? We aren't jumping 5 spots after a home win. Great win. But you have to work your way up the rankings.

We've beat Scony and Buff (18), TT and AZ lost (16), and can very easily argue we have a better resume than UK, MSST, OHST, BuzzTech, FLST (11). Finally, I doubt we'd jump Sparty, but we should - both lost to KU, they lost to L and we lost to IU, their best wins are vs IA and vs UCLA.

I doubt we'll get to 10, but we should be a "high riser" this week - I'll put my money on lucky 13.

3.5 down...I think we may still need Murray State to beat Auburn to pass them.

Assuming chalk holds the rest of the week, I think the lowest we can be is #18. I think a dominate win over Buffalo could be impressive enough to also move us past Mississippi State (after struggling with Wofford), Wisconsin, Ohio State (though unlikely), Texas Tech, and Auburn.

So somewhere between 18 and 13 unless we get some crazy results this weekend.

In the AP they could jump ASU, Buffalo, and possibly Kentucky.  Then they get put in a spot right next to UW, do some voters put MU in front of them? But yeah 16/17 probably.
