There's still voters with KSU and UW on their ballots and have us off. Its ridiculous how some of these guys can claim to take their job seriously...
Brian Holland has us UR and the 6-5 Purdue @ 15...
Jesse Newell has us UR and Iowa State @ 17...
The only thing that makes sense is that nothing makes sense.

Also this was previously posted here but I wanted to throw back up here because its super user friendly and fun to play around with.. https://collegepolltracker.com/basketball/team/marquette-golden-eagles/2018

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Syracuse went from ranked 25th to 0 votes.

And someone has NJIT 25th. Explain.

Syracuse lost to OD at home and John Feinstein has NJIT at 25 and the rest of his bracket his pretty ridiculous...but hey he has us at 14 so maybe he is a genius  ;D

Now let's hope Buffalo takes out Cuse tomorrow

And we do our jobs tomorrow and Friday vs Buffalo.

Will have us in real good shape entering the holidays

Yes, I knew Cuse lost to ODU.  My Syracuse comment was meant to be an observation.

NJIT was the one that needs explaining.  I thought the paragraph break would have made that clear,  but I digress.

I just looked at the Feinstein ballot.  Yowza! That is, um...something.

StJ is recieving votes, 59 of them, to Nova's 52.

Either I missed it or they edited it after the release. I specifically looked for SJU & Butler two extra times when it popped up on my feed and I didn't see them, so I tend to think it's the latter.

Belmont is pretty damn good. They don't have a lot on the resume but the UCLA win and two vs Lipscomb were very solid.

25 is overkill. But it's not a complete out of nowhere pick
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I'm trying to understand why NJIT and there is literally no reason. They are 11-2 but KenPom ranks them #191 overall. They have a 13-point home loss to #237 Cornell and a 23-point road loss to #280 UMass Lowell. Their best two wins are at home against #152 Colgate in overtime and on the road to #174 Brown by three points.

Belmont is at least a little defensible. They are 8-1 and have a road win over UCLA and beat a top 100 Lipscomb team twice. But NJIT?

Precisely. So to put them it at even #25 is an offense to the entire exercise

TallTitan34

See attachment on Feinstein voting NJIT at 25.

The Sultan

Steve Spurrier used to rank Duke #25 in pre-season every year out of appreciation since they gave him his first head coaching gig.  The coaches association told him to stop doing that because it would wreck the integrity of the poll.

Yet this overrated, insufferable writer does it week after week.
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

Eh, I don't have a problem with it.  At least there is a rationale and it doesn't sound like he just picks them out of a hat--just uses it to throw a small bone to a team that is playing well that otherwise might not get much recognition.  These are all subjective rankings anyway, so why worry about it?

LoudMouth

So he is now ranking teams based on who it means more to? Yikes. Participation trophy.

And he's basically saying the teams he is voting for are undeserving, so how much can it really mean to them?

That's so terribly pathetic.

With that logic, he might as well take Duke and KU out, since they know they'll be #1 seeds on Selection Sunday regardless of their ranking.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Big opportunity week for moving up. We have a cupcake and home game against a top 15 team. A few of the teams in front us are playing some top teams and some sneaky good buy games. Everything comes up Marquette and we could be looking at a top 15 ranking.

#19 Kentucky vs #9 UNC
#18 Arizona State @Vandy & vs #1 Kansas
#17 Mississippi State vs Wofford (top 75 KenPom)
#15 Ohio State vs UCLA
#14 Buffalo @CUSE & @#20 MARQ
#12 Texas Tech vs #2 Duke
#11 Florida State vs Saint Louis (top 75 KenPom)
#8 Auburn @NCST & vs Murray State (top 75 KenPom)

Meh. Now that I know the rationale I'm a little more okay with it...but still, why NJIT? There are plenty of "little guys"out there who are better than NJIT. San Francisco, Murray State, Fresno State, Toledo, Belmont (who he ranked 24), Old Dominion, UC Irvine.....there's a whole bunch I would give it to before NJIT.

I don't know what the AP Voter Instructions are. Based on those, I may want some of the the voters removed immediately. Or, I may be OK with their nonsense and blame it all on the AP.

The portal is NOT closed.

#18 Arizona State just lost to Vandy. The opportunity to move up in the polls will be there this week!
