If MU goes 3 for 3, they will be in the top 5 going into conference play.  #1?   There will have to be some upsets.   Irrelevant for now.   Take care of business so we can continue to speculate.

With several nice wins and the only loss coming in OT to West Virginia, I think Gonzaga will stay barely ahead of us. So I'll say 7 for Marquette, and I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's better.

Goodman just posted his list and MU was #4 after Auburn, Kansas, Tennessee with Iowa St and Kentucky behind.

Two top 10ish matchups in the same week, with Marquette ranked in the top 5ish...
Could this be the biggest week of regular season basketball for Marquette in many of our lifetimes, at least rankings wise??
I know it's December, but it's still a heckuva lot of fun.

To add to this- could 2 wins put Marquette in position for #1 overall?
Kansas @ Creighton, Auburn @ Duke, Kentucky @ Gonzaga.

I'd say two wins make it a possibility, and that's some awesome stuff.

I think the week in Hawaii just last year was a bigger week, with top 5 match ups against Kansas and Purdue (after playing UCLA). And, as it turned out, our game against Purdue in Hawaii was for the number 1 ranking. Well, we got them this year!

Both Parrish and Goodman have us at 4.  Fanta has us at 5.  None are AP voters but it's great to see us getting that recognition.

I'm guessing 8.

I would say whatever they are ranked today will be as a big of an early season ranking that I can ever remember. While I was excited for the season, I did not see a top ten ranking this early in the season. Pretty amazing work by the program.

Last year I thought they were top ten team from day one and thought they would be ranked #1 at some point during the season last year. My expectations for this year were a top 15 team by mid-January with the possibility of going higher. This has been a crazy start to the season around the country and MU has held serve. This week ranking will be a pleasant surprise to me.

Same here Goose. It's been a fun ride so far, but of course the next 3 games will largely determine where we will be rated going forward. Let's enjoy our TBD ranking today and hope we improve on it with wins over ISU and UW.
