Bottom linen8s, another conference win today will be sweet.  Especially this time of year. Goo Marquette!
I just want to see 'bottom linen8s' immortalized before Daniel goes back and edits.    Silly phones.

I want to give you credit for attempting to be sarcastic/funny, but then again you usually are a liberal user of teal.

I have very little doubt we will lose today, but it is still a legitimate question is it not?

But failing miserably.

It's a legitimate question.

The Pentagon assured us there are no explosives on or in the balloon which makes the probability of your question zero, but MU losing today's maybe 1 in a million or even a trillion, but not zero.

I did not realize my question would be so offensive.

Coming in from Indianapolis, and morning radio likes to point out that Butlers best loss in conference is 15. When they lose, they like to make it a spectacle.

That being said, trying to wait out 14.5 as I don't trust the walk-on period at the end of the game. for the entire 2nd half.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

I don't think MU can be ranked any higher. Look who's up there. Sure, there will be some movement up and down, like after today when Purdue, Virginia and Kansas all lost. There's no reason voters would move MU up because they beat Butler. I hope Gonzaga loses tonight.

The bobber is floating as high as it can. But that's okay with me. As I type this, my wife is looking over my shoulder. Holding a rolled up newspaper. "Whattcha doing?" "Nothing."
And after she swats me hard on the ear she mutters to me, "Don't let a lead ball weigh you down. Be boyant.' 'Oh, you're right honey. On Monday they'll be ranked at ten, they'll be a 10 just like you.' I'm so smooth. Women love men who can be charming.  Another happy ending.

I think you're half right. Those voters that had MU 14 or better last week will not move them much, or at all.

But the voters that had them 14th or worse, and especially in the 20s, will feel compelled to move a 19-5 team leading the Big East up this week. So they will get more points from the laggards catching up than the leaders moving them higher.

12th ... top 10 if they win at Uconn

And down goes Gonzaga. My guess for Monday:

1. Purdue
2. Houston (Assuming a win @Temple tomorrow)
3. Alabama
4. Arizona
5. Texas
6. Tennessee
7. UCLA
8. Virginia
9. Kansas
10. Marquette

I think we hop Kansas State, Baylor, Gonzaga, and Iowa State to make it to the top 10. I think X could be a threat to leapfrog us. Both their wins were much more impressive than ours and I could see voters rewarding them for doing it without Freemantle. I could also see St. Mary's picking up a bunch of bandwagoners resulting in a leapfrog.

If the above came to pass, four of the ten teams above us will have lost last week which means the gap between Marquette and the top is closing.

#1. Finally got a close win

I understand that this is a running "joke"but the issue has never been that winning games close is somehow more valuable than winning comfortably.

The issue has been that MU has often had trouble executing in the last parts of games, especially on offense, and that led to almost all of their losses and turning some seemingly comfortable leads into tighter finishes.

Those issues showed themselves yesterday in the form of possessions resulting in forced shots or turnovers and Jones missing consecutive one and ones that could have provided a little more breathing room. Fortunately the defense held firm, but that might not work against a team less inept than Butler.

MU has had a few recent games that they finished well, including making the free throws needed to put the game away. But that issue remains a concern when the team gets into games that could decide the conference title or in single elimination tournaments.

I think we will be 12-14 this week.   Don't see any way we are top 10.   But ranked is good pub for the university and recruiting.   Thank you Shaka, staff and team!  Unreal in Year 2

Ardmore Mug

I think with the the upsets above us and Gonzaga getting knocked off, that  will put us in at #10 ! ! ! 8-)

brewcity77

I'm thinking 12. We move ahead of Gonzaga and ISU (who still lost to Texas Tech despite the KU win) and close ground on but don't pass Kansas, K-State, and Baylor. Another 2-0 week would get us into the top-10. I don't think St. Mary's or X pass us from behind, but imagine both move up 2-3 as they also move past Gonzaga and TCU (and Providence for SMC).

I think what has been holding us back is our overall record.  The metrics have said that we're a top 10 team for weeks now but our 5 losses have held us back. We've consistently been the top 5 loss team (until Baylor passed us last week).

To date this season,  there has never been a 5 loss team in the top 10. This week,  there will be at least 2. With Baylor now sitting at 6 losses, I think we join Kansas as one of those two five loss teams.
