3. Guns N' Roses
4. Iron Maiden
5. Grateful Dead

I have a few exceptions for the dead GnR & Queen each have one as well but overall that's my immediately turn off list.

Ironically, bands I always turn off...

Led Zeppelin
Rolling Stones
Beatles
Cars
Any prog-rock 70s
Almost any disco

They just don't give you no satisfaction?

And they definitely don't start me up.

It is what they ended with two years ago in Chicago.  Quite the atmosphere.

Boy, I sure do love me some Maiden.  I just think they're so fun.  And man, talk about a live show, 10 foot robot walking around stage? Pyrotechnics, Guitars swinging around in unison and Bruce Dickenson sprinting all around everywhere while singing?  So fun.  I think it was Moe Szyslak that said, "Its good to see the spectacle back in rock."

But I completely get how they aren't everyone's jam.

Where are you that Iron Maiden randomly comes on? That’s not exactly standard crowd music  ;D

IMO it is *the* quintessential classic rock song.

And I will say this, the string of four albums the Stones put out in five years (Beggar's Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street) is about a great a stretch of music for one band to put out in such a short time frame.

Same except for GnR.  I'd substitute iron maiden for anything Ozzy.

I mean, it's just my opinion, but they're the one band that I will turn off every time they come on.  Repetitive riffs, a guitarist that goes by "The Edge", and Bono's total lack of self awareness always struck me the wrong way.  I understand other people love U2 (my wife, God help me) but I never cared for them in the least.

Watch "This Might Get Loud" with Page, Jack white and the edge.  The edge is embarrassing.

I do like U2 but not for the Edge's guitar chops.

I agree, but I actually used to like u2 at one time. Bands you instantly turn off sounds like another list.
1.   Oasis
2.   U2
3.   Dave Matthews
4.   Green Day
5.   Blind melon

I can't say I have an "instantly turn off" band since many have at least a few good songs to listen too. However, when we're in the car I have to instantly turn off The Beatles as my wife absolutely detests them. Well, other than Blind Melon from your list, they just have one song which sucks.

Yeah that grouping is definitely "one of these doesn't belong".

Breweries and dive bars mostly 🤗 and whenever I'm in the middle of nowhere WI there's a station that seemingly plays endless stream of hair metal.

Ah, another instant turn it off for me is anything from any of the CSNY group, except the Hollies oddly enough.

Really?  Man.  I'm the only thing close to a metal guy on here at all huh? Black Sabbath is so cool to me.  They basically invented a genre.  There are so many bands, especially from the 70s-80s that owe their existence to Sabbath.  They had to develop their style around Tony Iommi, who lost a couple of fingertips in a factory accident.  So he tuned his guitar down, and played a lot of sliding barre chords, and thus metal was born.  Great story of persistence and determination on his part.  He was literally told he would never play again as like a 18 year old or something.

And Ozzy, man, well, I'm a fan, though I don't listen to him as much as I used to.  And I love that he went from Tony Iommi, to Randy Rhodes, and eventually to Zakk Wylde.  That guy has sang with some monster guitar players.

Kind of wild to include the Kinks in here and not Pink Floyd or Queen. Very influential group, but not on the same level as the other 4 in my opinion.

The Kinks should definitely be on the list if we are talking about most influential bands from the UK.

First, for their popularization of power chords. Link Wray used them earlier and probably some early electric blues guys, but both Davies' brothers made them a staple of rock music. Secondly, they were an early band that made social commentary a big part of their music.

Edge is one of my favorite guitarists. I'm a minimalist when it comes to guitar players. I have no use for the Eddie Van Halen style gymnastics (yes, I recognize he is a great player). It's the same thing that makes Richards/Wood so great. I really don't care how fast they can go up and down the fretboard. It's about playing what the song demands.

Everything Edge plays is about the song and the feeling it is trying to evoke. One might even say that what Edge does on guitar is as pompous as what Bono does with vocals. But it works.

I know, Galway. But we're arrogant Americans who lump entire regions together. 8-)

Link Wray is a visionary. Rumble is a great tune especially for the era.
