Any comments on their ribs?  I make my own quite often and they are very very good.  And yes, sometimes they end up In the smoker.  So for me to order ribs from an outside establishment, they are up against a pretty high standard

Ya'll want a secret I just learned-your fav rib rub, onions and Guinness beer(this is the new ingredient I just picked up) in an aluminum foil covered pan-oven at 225 for 3-4 hours or until the meat is just pulling away from the bones.  Grill, meat side down until crispy as you like, turn 'em over and slather with Stubbs original bbq sauce and you will wet yourself eating these bad boys

Note:you'll need a long/wide pancake spatula to handle them as they are pretty tender and will fall apart a little on you until you get them crisped and sauced up

Um, move this crap into the "which smoker to buy" thread.

Also, I have never had their ribs.  We have an amazing BBQ place not far from our house where we go if we are jonesing for some smoked meat.
Have some patience, FFS.

wow!  Is that really that off putting?  Incredible how wrinkled people get when things don't just go into little rows...the only mention of smoking was that I sometimes will smoke my ribs.  Otherwise, just a little golden nugget for anyone who cares to take notice...sheeeeesh.

Any comments on their ribs?

They are Midwest suburban style ribs. Pretty ordinary. Probably steamed until the meat loses all taste.

Neither hold a candle to inner city barbecue or smoked meat you make yourself.

Smoked meats can be discussed anytime, anywhere.

Ron Swanson agrees with this analysis.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

They're about to start building less than a mile from my current crib... but I may need to make it over to the old spot to try a Minnesota-Portillo's soon

Don't go to a Portillos that just opened. Really rude help.  Poorly planned. Not a good look

I didn't have that experience at all during the times I've gone to the new Greenfield location that opened this spring. Everything seemed very professional and organized.

We went to the soft opening of their 50th store in Woodbury, MN. on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  Free food, free T-shirts, and free chocolate cake to go.  You had to have signed up for their email list and when pre-registering for the soft opening you picked a half hour time slot to visit with your golden ticket that came in the mail.  It was very busy but was really no different than any other Portillo's experience in the past.  Half of the workers were brought in from Chicago to work the opening and train the other half who were new local employees.

What rudeness and chaos happened when you were there?

Is it because you asked for chili and got indignant when they didn't have it?

Ha, I know better.  Wanted a couple of Chicago dogs to go for the boys (and me).
