Why is everyone so high on Cadougan? From everything I've read, Johnny Lacy from Milwaukee Bay View (Class of 09) is ranked higher and has MU as the first choice on his list.  I realize Cadougan is a couple inches taller, but he doesn't sound like he's as quick as Lacy, or as good of a scorer. Do you guys know something about Lacy that I don't?

The ranking comparison may depend more on where you look and also is somewhat affected by Cadougan being a bit more of an unknown heading into the summer. I'd wait and see what happens in the fall before declaring one the higher ranked player.

Beyond that, though, I think the perception is that Lacy is a shooting guard in a small point guard's body, whereas Cadougan is a pure point. In fact, Cadougan was received the Best Playmaker award at this weeks NBPA 100 camp.

#1.  Ranking depends on where you look.  ESPN has Cadougan at #79, and doesn't have Lacy in the top 100.  CSTV has Cadougan at #51, and Lacy at #89.  Further, at one point Cadougan was a consensus top 15 player in this class, until injuries and switching schools lowered his ranking.

#2.  Lacy had MU as his first choice when Crean was coach, not so much with Buzz in control.  MU has not been going after him as hard, and if he had to commit today it would probably be Minnesota.

#3.  Cadougan is a good student.  Lacy is not.  There is a very good chance that Lacy will have to reclassify to the class of 2010 because he won't qualify in 2009.  MU cannot afford to take another academic risk with Maymon and Buycks in that class.

#4.  Lacy is not a PG.  He's a SG, and not a particularly good shooting one at that.  Cadougan is a PG.

Thanks for the info, Pakuni.  I also poked around for a little more info on Lacy and it sounds like he has academic troubles too, which may explain why MU hasn't offered to him yet. Anyway, I'm onboard for Cadougan now - the next Tony Miller!!

I never seen Lacy play, but from what I have heard about him on this board made me believe he is a me first point guard. We do not want that type of player. A point guard's job is to make the surrounding players better.
