YEA BUZZ IS GETTING IT DONE MARQUETTE HASNT BEEN NAMED WITH SO MANY ELITE H.S. PLAYERS IN 4EVER....HOPEFULLY WE LAND SOME, AND HAVE A TOP 10 RECRUITING CLASS(UNHEARD OF).

This sounds promising.

If I'm wearing my optimism hat, I'll say that if Buzz can bring in some high talent, and win with that high talent in 09, 10, 11... well, then MU will really become a premium program.

Similar to how PITT kept rolling after Howland left, or how Xavier kept rolling after after Matta left. I don't think PITT or Xavier are exactly premium/elite programs right now... but they don't think they quite have the history, facilities, attendance, alumni support, etc. that MU has.

Given MU's advantages, I really think it (the school, the brand, the team, etc.) could take off like a rocket.

IF Buzz is successful early (first 3 seasons)... I really think the sky is the limit for MU.

However, if MU drops off a little bit, it will hurt as people will think MU is headed back to the "dark ages" again.

YEA I AGREE I WILL LOSE MY MIND IF MU GOES TO THE NIT ANYTIME SOON...YEA BUT EVEN IN 09 WE ALREADY HAVE A NICE GROUP OF TALENT: LAZAR, TREVOR, JERONNE, ERIK, DAVID, MO, BUYCKS, FULCE, BUTLER,  AND OTULE(HOPEFULLY HE PANS OUT)...BUT DATS A NICE TEAM RIGHT THERE WE'RE  PRETTY DEEP

bilsu

Remember that Uconn went from the #1 team in the country to not making the NIT. No NIT with young players, NCAA bid, potential final four candidate in year three. If Calhoun can not make the NIT after significant player losses, then we should have patient with Buzz. Recruiting success plus experience will result in very good teams 3 years down the road. There is no guarantee that a freshman dominated team will be successful.

Doubtful it will get any worse than TC's Western Michigan disaster

I hear that there are academic issues.

MR.HAYWARD

I think that is part of the reason Buzz is getting three Jucos...becuase our old coach really dropped the recruitng ball the last 2-3 years.  Buzz needs talent right now to replace the 3 amigos and he needs experienced talent as well.  welcome Fulce, Butler, and buycks who will all be 21+ year old college juniors when we will most need them.  Buzz is the man.

Totally agree here.  I think we should give Buzz a little slack, although you're in D1 and playing in one of the most competitive conferences in the nation.  A coach should be thinking "reloading" rather than "rebuilding."  I've always been a firm believer in that sort of recruiting mentality.

Did I miss something, who is Dan Jennings?

?  Don't know anything about him.  One star can't be right if he's taking visits to St. John's, and goes to Oak Hill. He's got to be better than that.

Try this:

http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=3756011

What you had was his rating when he was in the class of 2008.  He's now doing a prep year and has reclassified as part of 2009, so they've changed his rating.  You'll also notice his height and weight have changed.

Here's his Rivals profile as well, http://pittsburgh.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=70556&sport=2

From NBE Basketball Report

Dan Jennings
This big bodied post also played well. Danny finished inside with a foul. He scored on an offensive rebound put back. The nimble post player used quick footwork on a spin move and finish in the post. He also threw down several rim rattling jams. Danny played well on the offensive end, but was even better defensively By my count, he blocked four shots. He also pulled down numerous rebounds. The big man was unstoppable on the inside for the Gauchos.

The 6-foot-9 Jennings says he has offers from Marquette, DePaul, Louisville, Minnesota, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Xavier, St. John's, Rutgers and Seton Hall.

The way it sounds like Junior played last week during the top 100 camp...I would be happy with him or Gaddy at this point. Obviously Gaddy would be a huge signing just because he is rated so highly and could be a package with his buddy Avery Bradley but it seems Junior has some great playmaking ability and may not be that large of a drop off.

Cadougan is #55 on the dominant team....he's playing with Deandre Jordan nba 1st rd pick...so hes playing with elite talent..

He's an excellent passer-----however not particularily quick or athletic-----has no left hand on layups-----
doesn't project as a pure shooter. I'd rather have those studs in that video.

how much have you seen of him to say all this(juss one video not all of his assets/older video=couldve improved)?..i mean i find it hard 2 believe that he was mvp at a camp with the top 100 hs prospects if he cant make a lefty lay-up. he's a BE bruiser type pg... he's not that slow he wants to come here because of our up-tempo style of play so he must be ready to run...but i agree hes not that athletic..still a good prospect.

The problem with those camps and with all star games is that the guards don't give up the ball unless it's off a penetration where they get an assist----they're looking to make an impression by either shooting or dishing). Jamil Wilson didn't even make the top 50 at that camp (probably because he didn't get the ball much in games)-----I've seen Wilson and he's an exceptional prospect-----very, very talented.

Another problem which makes it difficult to evaluate players is lack of defense, which gives alleys to guards.
He does play under control and sees the floor very well----but quick or athletic Cardougan is not.

Hope Buzz is going after some of those postup studs in the video-----they looked pretty goo to me.

Murff knows all.  Don't question him.  If Wilson were to sign with MU he would automatically go from an "exceptional prospect" to a kid who is uninterested and will sit behind the 3 other 6'8" players we already have.

Yep, willliams and Taylor were recruits indicative of dropping the ball.

Well if you ask me i would say that wilson is slightly overrated offensively ...hes a great defender with shot blocking ability but i feel as if he wouldnt flourish in a camp like that even if he did get the ball, jeronne maymon played on the same team as Cadougan and i believe he was a top 50 performer so that not getting the ball isnt a good reason, he found a way 2 score, he has a great offensive game much better than wilsons.

ecompt

once again, Murff watches two minutes of video and decides exactly what a player can or cannot do. Hey, he was right about Travis Diener...

Williams and Taylor were indicitive of the fact that TC recruited best when he had gobs of PT to sell.

Time will tell how Buzz recruits when PT is limited.

Cadougan finished top 5 in assists per game at the camp.   And wasn't in the top 10 in scoring.

Why is everyone so high on Cadougan? From everything I've read, Johnny Lacy from Milwaukee Bay View (Class of 09) is ranked higher and has MU as the first choice on his list.  I realize Cadougan is a couple inches taller, but he doesn't sound like he's as quick as Lacy, or as good of a scorer. Do you guys know something about Lacy that I don't?

Lacy isnt a PG - he is a 2G in a PG's body. Cadougan is a better PG. Was ranked as such at the NBPA.
