Coby Bryant is a "shinny new object"? He's a good player, I wish the Seahawks had kept him, and I'm sorry he's injured ... but if that's the injury that forces the Chicago offense to have to score 42 a game, then Poles didn't do a very good job this offseason.

Seriously, the injuries are significant in the secondary. Losing Bryant for the year is the icing on the cake. But, the Bears lead the NFL in most players' games missed due to injury last year, so maybe there is hope.

Seriously though, it is amazing to me that they still think that this leverage is going to work. That somehow, Illinois is going to trip over themselves to make a deal. It seems obvious that the state seems willing to do *something,* they aren't going to print money like Kansas did for the Chiefs - which is smart!

So my guess is that this either ends with them staying at Soldier Field, or with a half-a$$ stadium in Hammond. Which would be a complete failure by Bears management.

They really should just sell the team to smart and ruthless pretty boys instead of trotting poor George out there.

A little inside baseball here.
The Bears had a deal with Illinois that they could live with and that passed the state House in April.
Then KW, for whatever reason, started playing footsie with Brandon Johnson again. The Chicago delegation of the Illinois Senate - which hadn't yet passed the House bill - caught wind of this and instead passed a new bill that would give the team the same incentives whether they chose Arlington Heights or Chicago. But they passed it hours before the legislative session closed, and didn't give the House enough time to consider and vote on it. So nothing got through.

Once again, one man's pipe dream of building a lakefront vanity project is costing the team time and money.

You do know that allegations aren't convictions and/or sentences, right?

BTW, I am not defending the signing, or attacking it. My post merely passed along the news. Teams in all leagues sign athletes who have been accused, convicted, even jailed. Some of those athletes have even gone on to be Hall of Famers. That's just the way it is.

I was just being funny. You were the one who pointed out he was dealing "external issues". The external issue is a list of felonies that could result in life in prison. Not a very common "external issue" and slightly different than drugs, domestic abuse, DUI, etc. 

I never said he was going to jail. I guess I could have said facing potential life in prison, but I didn't think anyone would examine my words on a flippant remark.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the signing. If he is not guilty, he deserves to play football or any career he wishes.
