Great opportunity for many scoopers to show their basketball coaching chops.

Zog from Margo

I'm not surprised that this past season would lead to some staff change.

If so, congratulations on the head coaching gig.  Thanks for the offense that brought us TKo, Oso, Omax, Kam, Stevie, Joplin, Nigel, Royce, Adrien.  I enjoyed the principles and the consistent open looks.

A buddy of mine said we're actually down a couple assistants right now...and Trilly Donovan hinted that we could have multiple shakeups on our staff - so maybe Nevada isn't gone just yet

Not sure why Haynes was suspended, but wonder if that's all resolved.

DienerTime34

Maybe we can get his brother, Idaho Smith.

Haynes was my guess, maybe Rivers since he has a relationship with JR Blount.
Jeremy Ballard would be a name to watch to join the staff in any case.

If we did, he wouldn't be an aircraft carrier.

Another name I wondered about was Luke Yaklich (both former Smart assistants at various stops).

Would love Yaklich for defense - especially if we were to add Evans and Byrd.

If you have talent, you can definitely excel in his system.

But I agree thank you for a fun offense.  Good luck at the next gig.

One of the job requirements is the "ability to evaluate talent and recruit student athletes who can be successful at Marquette."  Glad they're putting this on the JD as a requirement going forward.  Too bad the other assistants on the staff were grandfathered in.

Captain Quette

This coaching staff has underperformed for several years relative to talent evaluation and roster composition. Also, it did not appear that we had any offensive system, end of game plays, or out of bounds plays.

Never want to see anyone lose their job but it is time for a change.

Wouldn't mind taking Kentucky approach and hiring the dad of a 5 star.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

He might be.  But i don't think they would post the job before he has an offer.

Miss the days before NIL and the portal when programs didn't hire dads or coaches affiliated with recruits to get them to attend your school.

The system is great.  I would love it if he ended up staying.

We just sucked at making open shots for most of the season.

Without blaming anyone for anything, sometimes it's just good to have a new stimulus, a new set of eyes, new ideas.
