The Knicks are clearly the better team even though they weren't exactly great in this series.

NY had the best player in the series.

SA youth & inexperience. Players and coaches.

And Fox was a total disaster.

MuggsyB

Mitch Johnson was not good in this series to put it mildly.

I'd argue the Spurs were the better team, the Knicks just had the mettle. Knicks deserved it, but Spurs choked away the series as much as the Knicks won it.

As I said, youth and inexperience. But they are gonna be good the next 5 years.

They did choke but their opponent being way, way, more poised when it mattered means they're better.  And yes, the Knicks had the best player in the series.

They need to dump Fox ASAP.  A solid back-up PG that values the ball and doesn't do idiotic things would be an upgrade for SA.

Shoutout to the better and more well-deserved team for winning the finals.

MU82

The Knicks got next to nothing tonight from OG and KAT - 2 guys who were deservedly mentioned as Finals MVP candidates earlier in the series. And zippo from the bench. And precious little from Bridges. Yet they were still able to rally from another big deficit, and then put away a desperate, talented team on the road.

Impressive.

Brunson obviously was next level. Jordan-like, even.

The Spurs were not the better team. They had the most talented player on the floor, and a bunch of nice players around him as well, but they just didn't have the experience to get it done. But the Knicks have been building toward this for years.

It was an all time great performance by Brunson to slam the door.  He does it differently but it was somewhat reminiscent of Dwyane schooling dudes in '06.  He can get to his spots at will and score from pretty much any spot on the floor.

The Sultan

Yeah, I know the celebrities lining the court can by eye-rolling, but honestly feel good for Knicks fans. They are top notch ball knowers and have waited a long-time for this.

These Knicks are a likable team. I don't see any divas in NY. KAT had a great interview with SVP after the game and he's likeable, smart and knows his boxing history. He's got a future in broadcasting.

Kind of funny KAT got a ring before Jimmy after how their time in Minnesota went.

I don't think Jimmy was wrong about KAT at the time. He has become a much better player and has found a great role with this Knicks team.

Spurs were never winning this series as long as Wemby was in the lineup

Eh I know it's the minority of them but throwing crap at Wemby getting off the bus, beating up people wearing Spurs jerseys, and constant whining about reffing, I would've been fine with NY sports fans not getting this title.

Between that and Rick Brunson being, at best, a gross husband I was rooting for the Spurs, but don't find any of the Knicks players unlikeable. Brunson acting like he got sniped on half his shot attempts and Hart playing the Caruso roll of hacking and then acting like their dog just got murdered in front of them when a touch foul doesn't get called the Knicks way is annoying, but every team in basketball has those guys now.

Quote from: wadesworld on June 13, 2026, 09:25:50 PMHow soon does the call come in to make sure the Knicks get this win so the NBA doesn't have to suspend Wemby for game 6 of the NBA Finals?

IMHO there is zero chance Wembanyama would have been suspended for Game 6 - the NBA cares way too much about TV ratings and money. The previous game, he pushed Brunson in the head and shoved him to the floor; the NBA looked the other way on that, too.

I agree. After the Cavs got smoked, I told my wife, "I can't believe I'm saying this...but I think I'm going to be rooting for the Knicks."  I like a lot of guys on their team. I just wish there was a way for the Knicks to win, but not the Knicks fans.

The good news is that they paid a lot less for their seats than people in the nosebleeds.

The Giannis to Miami package reports doesn't impress me.

Yeah, didn't you have the Spurs winning it in five.? You were half right...it was five games.  ;D
