So ... what happened? Just a routine Knicks win, right?

Deciding to play Alvarado 16 minutes was genius.

Under the circumstances, I don't think we'll ever see a meltdown/collapse like that again.  Perhaps it's comparable to the Falcons/Patriots. 30 pts in the 2H in today's game is unfathomable.  And it was way more than missing open shots after being on fire in the 1H.  Absolutely abhorrent decision making on the floor and no leadership from the coach or the players.

Wemby will never win a title.  Just not very good.

Don't go look up how bad De'Aaron Fox was last night in the 2nd half.

Hart missing the breakaway layup reminded me of Duane vs Creighton. Fox's miss reminded me of Buycks at Louisville. OG's tip reminded me of Omax vs X.

Eh, I don't agree with that. Young players without a ton of playoff experience can wilt when the pressure is on. Dude's only 22 and lead them to the NBA Finals - he scored 32 in dominating fashion just Monday.

The Spurs scored 25 points the last 24 mins.  Alvarado was better than any Spurs player on the floor in the 4Q.

MuggsyB

The Spurs did a horrific job of managing the game once they went up 29 in the 3Q.  They were on fire from distance in the 1H, but you have to understand you can lose huge leads by jacking up 3's when there not falling.  Extremely stupid decisions culminating with Fox not understanding time and score with 10 secs left.

cheebs09

If the Spurs lose this series, I think it would be beneficial for them to send one a package with some of their young guys for Giannis. Just going to try and manifest this into the universe.

Stop it.  No he wasn't.  He made a layup and hit the 2nd 3 he's hit in a month...LITERALLY.  He also got MASSIVELY bailed out by OG on the corner 3 to cut it to 4 with 4 min left.  He threw a bounce pass to OG's f'ing feet that completely killed the advantage on the ball rotation, but OG is playing out of his mind so he still made it happen.

Castle was still playing his ass off in the 4th, Mitch Johnson is just too myopic to go to anyone other than Wemby or Fox in critical moments.  I don't think there is ANYONE who expected the Spurs to have a good play drawn up at any point.

cheebs09

To be fair, Castle was open on the last play for the lob. KAT just tipped the inbounds and blew it up.

The Spurs had a 29-point lead. It was over. Everybody knows the Spurs won. And then "they" started finding points for the Knicks. "They" probably had homeless people scoring for the Knicks. It was rigged! A crooked game!

Many such cases of players getting double the baskets.

OG was more than 25 feet from the basket when he began his dash to the hoop.

A truly amazing display of determination, hustle, athletic ability and basketball skill. (And sure, a little bit of luck, too.)

I came so close to turning the game off early in the second half. I found myself wondering "WHY am I watching this crap? The best the Knicks can hope for is losing by about 12-15 points to make the L not a total embarrassment."

No matter what the reason(s) for the comeback, winning after trailing by 29 points was mind-boggling.

My wife and I went out, so I recorded the game. Somewhat miraculously, I didn't hear what happened before we got home, and we watched it on delay.

When the Spurs' lead got huge, I fast-forwarded through a considerable amount of the game, starting to watch it again when the SA lead was down to "only" 90-75.

What unfolded from there was obviously pretty incredible.

I think the Spurs should keep jacking early-shot-clock 3s even though they were no longer hot from distance. That's always smart.

Reminded me a little of the way Nova kept jacking quick 3s in MU's 2017 comeback win. Except this time the Nova players were the beneficiaries!

Is gambling legal?

MU82

Looking at the stats, and assuming the both that the Knicks win and that there's no big statistical swing during whatever is left of the series, I don't see how anybody but OG can be Finals MVP.

Even more when you throw in his game-saving tip-in and block last night.
