Quote from: jficke13 on September 12, 2025, 10:47:58 AMFirst things I've seen suggest this is a guy who may be nominally "right wing" but is more likely a terminally-online-brain-poison guy. References are the types that will make sense to people only if they're plugged into very very strange corners of the internet, just like the school shooter with all the stuff written on the gun. Those messages are indicative more of the Terrorgram/nihilistic-terrorist axis than the dedicated political actor axis of killer.

I was going to post a similar concept, and when I mentioned both his parents were Republicans it was an allusion to the fact that on its face, this appears to be kind of the poster child republican family. In normal times, as you mention, he would have likely grown up as a traditional republican.

But, there are these darker nihilism-black-pill areas of the youth, who see everything (and both sides) as part of the same problem and disassociate themselves from society and dive into the echo chambers of the internet to find like-minded people that also believe in these nihilistic views on society, which can lead to some being radicalized into extremist actions.

They aren't republican or democrat, because in general they hate them both as part of the problem.

Messages on the bullets, at least the ones they've told us about

In-universe Helldivers are fash but claim their enemies are fash. Bella Ciao is an Italian antifacist song that is weirdly big in the Nick Fuentes Righty "Groyper" circles.

Game reference + 2 *EXTREMELY* online references suggests less "this is an antifa assassin" and more "this is a brain poisoned online black pill who will not in any way have comprehensible politics that map onto the current spectrum"

Or an advocate of Nick Fuentes, who has had public disputes with both Trump and Kirk. But that is obviously speculation.

Yeah I guess that's been confirmed. I'm sure a bunch of people will reflect on this, apologize, and do better in the future.

Doubtful. They'll double down, because to admit error is a weakness.

That's the thing, if there is no tweet, there is no error to admit.

I like him and his family. They support the obvious: Every American man, woman and child should own at least 10 assault rifles.

I have no opinion on that one way or another, it's merely an explanation on where these phrases and symbols come from.

Well easier said than done. Regardless, he was 22.

Yep, but the shooter in the Denver area yesterday was 16... I'll give you a guess as to what he was in to.

At least we were only raised by television... kids raised by the internet without any guidance from their parents?  Oh boy.

Culled from a variety of public sources, here is the profile that is emerging about Tyler Robinson:

He is a 22-year-old white male with no criminal record. Social-media photos depicted him as the oldest of three sons in a tight-knit family. He lived at home with his parents, who are Mormons and registered Republicans. He is registered as unaffiliated, but he didn't vote in the most recent presidential election. Social-media posts showed him and other family members posing with guns. At a recent family dinner, he said he did not like Kirk's viewpoints. He reportedly had "anti-fascist" and  homophobic messages written on bullet casings. He was a high achiever in high school and received a college scholarship but dropped out after one semester. He was into online gaming.
