Quote from: Butt Johnson on September 11, 2025, 08:13:51 PMHaving empathy despite the significant detrimental shortcomings of someone seems to result in further whining with the goal of only being satisfied until you are crying and groveling in complete submission at their feet.

So yeah, apparently

Tell Jesus.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

Do you think it's worth the cost of some* level of car accident deaths, so that we can continue to drive?  If yes, are you cool with kids dying in car accidents?  Of course not.

Lots of twisting of words and taking quotes out of context (not talking about you except in this example).

This is not the great argument you may think it is.  Reconsider.

Quote from: Jay Bee on September 11, 2025, 08:07:58 PMOh. So, there was never a functioning society until the last two hundreds years?

You can't possibly actually think this this argument makes sense. Are you thinking, 'Sure if I ignore modern city planning, timeline expectations, logistics, expected sitabce traveled, the fact that people need to travel more in their standard day to day life, etc then this is an equivalency' gun necessity has diminished with the access to farmed meat, and advancement of military to a level that an armed citizenry would be ineffective. Meanwhile cars have become a necessity for 90% of the United States that doesn't work remote and live in an extremely high density area of the US with great transit. Not to mention the fact that car ownership comes with insurance, drivers ed, consistent monitoring of your license when it expires to determine if you're fit to drive, and there's different license standards for various size vehicles, whereas your side is so up in arms (literally) about the 2nd amendment that any restriction like that and you all cry your eyes out.

Yeah. A car's sole purpose isn't to kill things.

A little disappointed.  That was fun.

Kinda. I can't even keep people's main accounts straight, much less their alt accounts. I choose to believe it was hilltopper and rocky is staging a coup.

So I guess the guy they arrested was a 22 year old named Tyler. White, not trans.

My guess is 20% of 22 year olds in Utah are named Tyler.

I was really pulling for a trans suspect or black suspect.  Disappointing to say the least

I hope they got the right guy. I'm impressed they didn't shoot any of the suspects so far, tbh.

My understanding is that the most serious charge he is facing is tossing his gun. I mean, killing someone is bad no doubt, but treating God's instrument of justice that way is simply intolerable.

I think they were all white, so that wasn't a real concern

Sandy Hook, Charleston, Buffalo, El Paso, Butler, Parkman and now Utah Valley.
It's time we considered banning firearm possession for white males between the ages of 18 and 25.

I think Tower's initial reaction about who this shooter was will be spot on

Seemingly, the 'trans' and anti fascist things 'etched' on the casings were merely the stamping from the manufacturer.

Whomever divulged this information this put people in danger and should not be employed any law enforcement agency.

The morons in charge of the FBI have been purging the best and brightest to bring in the weak and servile.  Real DEI

One interesting piece of fallout from this event is how many people were "canceled" over it and lost their jobs as a result of a post they made. On the other end of that, some people were misidentified as being involved which severely negatively impacts their and their families lives for the foreseeable future. Not seeing any benefit to having a public social media profile unless for personal branding purposes that are directly for business or for career networking or something along those lines.

Also, I don't really get the obsession with keeping score on which "side" is committing more of these acts than others. There's usually a lot of gray area in every instance and you'll easily be able to be find "trusted sources" that will tell you what you want to hear one way or the other. MSNBC, a trusted and established news network, said on air that it may have just been an accident from a supporter during celebration. Or maybe that clip was fake and was AI. Hard to tell these days and it takes a lot of mental energy to parse through what is real and what is not. Most of the time, it's not worth trying.

They've arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson for the shooting. Based on initial reports, he came from a Mormon family, his dad is a pastor & was in law enforcement. Robinson once wore a Donald Trump related costume for Halloween. Public records show he was not registered to a political party.

Both parents are registered republicans.
