I mean, it was the staff's plan - and everyone here was on excitedlybon board with - Sheek being the backup five. Are we now questioning that?

You're moving all sorts of goalposts with this one.

Yes, people were very excited about Sheek, myself included.

In no world would I expect him to play tough post defense against big 5s. The value was as a potential shot blocker.

Being excited about him as a backup 5 didn't mean people thought he could match the physicality of we're used to seeing down low.

Sifted my way thru 5 pages and the only concrete info I got was a Bonke commitment to MSU

Good news is Im getting much better at sifting

Hey I told you that Al Amadou committed to Milwaukee!

Oh.....you meant information you were interested in?

Carry on......

Nearly every program loses players to the portal that they didn't want to lose. Over the past 24 hours MU fans have experienced what nearly every other fanbase is also experiencing. It's the era we live in.

It's understandable to be disappointed but the "18" crap is so dumb. Any fan speculation of why Sheek is leaving is just people guessing from our keyboards. But seems weird that people think that Caedin is a more likely explanation than money.

I mean, get a clue people. Look around. Everyone loses players to the portal — and it's almost always for money.

I think it's the timing - that really amplified the shock factor.

I'm shifting goalposts?
You're literally ignoring what I wrote and arguing with something I didn't write.
Did I write anything about his "tough defense against big 5s?" Nope.
Did I write anything about matching "the physicality of we're used to seeing down low?" Nope.

I wrote that he'd likely be a better defensive option than Parham. You can't argue with that, of course (because you agree, right?) so instead you're arguing with things I never said.

What I wrote is clearly disagreeing with it because it's a ludicrous statement.

Lol. OK.

Not true.  John Blackwell left UW-Madison because of grades and Gard telling him he was cutting his minutes next year.

He was also upset that uw-madison has cut back on photoshopping blacks into their admissions publications.

I hope Duke and uw-madison both suck next season, just like us.

Tylen RIley should do well in a middle-of-the-pack Big 12 squad. I wouldn't mind a home-and-home with Cincinnati actually

How about making it 5 in 5 by 24?

Having 23 year old professionals going to college and getting 5 (or even 4) years of eligibility is ridiculous.

wadesworld

Maybe Fru can have 4 years at MU instead of 1.  There are plenty of players in NCAA athletics who played as much time in professional leagues overseas as Fru dide that got 4 years of eligibility.

The proposal is a five year window to complete five years of eligibility starting with high school graduation, or when they turn 19 years old.

They are going to include current graduating seniors who have played four seasons, like Ben and Chase.

Just received an email from Marquette Athletics with the subject line:

Welcome to Marquette, Sananda Fru & Nolan Minessale

The players' faces are featured under a large-font banner reading:

RELATIONSHIPS. GROWTH. VICTORY.

The text reads:

Welcome to Milwaukee, Sananda Fru!

Marquette Men's Basketball welcomes Sananda Fru. A CSC Academic All-District selection as a junior in 2025-26, Fru averaged 9.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in his first season with the Cardinals. He started in 29 of the team's 35 outings and shot 75.3 percent from the floor while finishing sixth in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in blocked shots (1.43 bpg.) and 16th in rebounding. He concluded the year with four double-doubles and led the squad in boards on 12 occasions.

Prior to Louisville, Fru played four seasons for Loewen Braunschweig in the German BBL. "We're very excited about Sananda joining our program and the immediate impact he will make." Smart said. "His athleticism, skill set, and DNA as a teammate will affect our team in a significant way."

Welcome to Milwaukee, Nolan Minessale!

Marquette Men's Basketball welcomes Nolan Minessale. As a sophomore, Minessale was a First Team All-Summit League selection in 2025-26 and was also named to the conference's all-defensive and all-tournament squads. A finalist for the Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, the Marquette High School graduate averaged 19.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. He finished second in the Summit League in scoring and among the national leaders with 22 games of 20-or-more points.

"We are happy to welcome Nolan home and add him to our program," Smart said. "He possesses a variety of winning traits as a player and person, including his contagious competitiveness, basketball IQ, and ability to make those around him better."

So, if this passes, could MU fill out its roster by bringing back Ben and Chase?

Right because they will most assuredly make this retroactive for seniors. And them fast-tracking this now is a good idea because it likely won't squeeze out many freshman, who schools have already made commitments to, and many graduating seniors may move on by this point.

So it may be a good idea for Marquette to hold some spots open at this point.
