Is it true that some of these agents are taking 20%???  Does anyone know the average vs NBA agents?  Ty.

I agree. Suspended for 2 games this season for DUI and the possesion of weed. Doesn't sound like the type of guy Shaka would want

Only the stupid players.

NBA player agent fees have a maximum cap of 4% allowed by the NBPA, this is only for gross salary. Agents often charge 10% to 20% for marketing and endorsement deals.

Left with the dentists. Whether because he had to or in solidarity, I do not know.

I don't think he adds much so weed arrest or not I don't think Kennard Davis raises our ceiling enough to spend $$$

The thought that someone isn't "Marquette" material because of a weed dui.

I thought the lol was self explanatory.

Considering his being impaired resulted in a car accident and two Marquette student athletes were killed last fall by a drunk driver it seems pretty self-explanatory to me that Shaka wouldn't get involved.

Nothing funny about a DUI.

Can't say that. The S.E.C. trademarked that in about 1940.

Yes. They'll brag about it too. I've seen some asking for 25% as well. There is nothing governing NIL agents.

How many are lawyers? If I was a player I would want a good lawyer looking out for my interests to make sure the agent isn't leaving me high and dry because there were no takers. Now if you have a lawyer agent get yourself a personal attorney as well who is looking out for you.

This seems like pure exploitation.  Not only would I not have an agent if I was an elite college hooper, I would dig into the backgrounds of these pilfering crooks.  And maybe make a few phone calls.  :)

I would eliminate the agents entirely and have a salary limit. I'm also guessing there's a sizeable percentage of these players that spend their entire NIL income and have no idea about the taxes.  Personally I think this whole thing is detrimental not only to the sport, but to the athletes.  Unless you change a number of things, including setting them up with a Trust or retirement fund.

LOL. How is being paid six or seven figures "detrimental to the athletes?"

And you are really being condescending that athletes and their families don't understand how to manage money, including taxes. Sure there are going to be sob stories, but this is MUCH better for the athletes than amateurism and is going to give players a significant head start on adulthood.

I also think it is also good for the sport because it's going to keep players in college longer.

And yes, agents need to exist. You can't simply eliminate them.

I love how Muggsy has, once again, risen to the challenge. First, we are supposed to imagine him as an "elite hooper". Secondly, he would investigate these crooks before eliminating them entirely and impose a salary limit on the players. And lastly, he would protect the players from their foolish selves by setting up a trust or retirement fund because they do not have enough discipline to manage their own finances..
