Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Quote from: MuMark on April 11, 2026, 11:41:15 AMOn 3

Tylen Riley took a huge step this season, averaging 15.0 points on 38.9 percent shooting from three for the 30-8 Tulsa team. For his efforts this season, he earned 2nd-Team All-American Conference honors. The 6-foot-3 guard will visit Cincinnati this coming week and is in the process of locking in a date with Ole Miss and Auburn. I am told that Riley will also look to visit Marquette and Maryland.

Really intriguing option.  Can play PG (30% assist rate), big enough to play SG (6-3 and athletic),  excellent 61.2 free throw rate (matters!), and 87% FT shooter (no matta).

Would Riley and Minessale be redundant?

Are we gonna sign anyone we really want? Would be nice to make an early splash instead of watching the most wanted sign elsewhere.

No anyone we sign will be someone we don't want...........that's the plan......you figured it out!

Genuinely how do you know this?? Lol. Follows aren't time-stamped and nor are they listed chronologically, so are you just routinely checking NJ's account and keeping track of all of his follows by hand?

If so, that's wild but I respect the dedication.

There are apps that track when follows were made. I didn't do it, but someone who does shared screenshots with me.

Shaka is notorious for not leaking much of anything. Don't misinterpret silence for nothing happening.

I would also be pretty careful interpreting this too much. Nigel hears Fru is a target...Nigel follows Fru...and Fru follows back because that's what happens most of the time.

Sure, but was just answering the question.

FWIW I do think there is value in follows, but more often when it involves support staff. When Allison Kellaher was here, a mutual follow with a recruit was often very telling.

This still works you just need to know what account to look at.

Riley may visit.

Yep. Or if the target follows mubb or something like that.

We know. That has already been shared here.

Some people here have inside information. It doesn't mean we're definitely going to land someone, but when certain posters say certain things, they usually got it from a source.

You, on the other hand, just shoot them down because chances are higher that any highly sought after recruit/transfer doesn't land here because that's just the way these things are so you can say you're right, and then provide information like you're an insider even though it's information that's been publicly Tweeted by major recruiting resources.

Can he backup Nigel at PG?

Yes.  And start next to him, or backup Stevens as well.

Doubt a player with his kind of numbers would want a bigger role than backing up Nigel or Stevens. Could see us playing 3 guards with him being one of them.

The Athletic has a ranking of the top 50 players in the portal. 6 (12%) of those players have committed to a new school.

Sure, we all want to see a fun commitment sooner than later but there's nothing to be concerned about. Chill.

He wasn't asking if he could strictly be the backup. He was asking if he could take that role when Nigel needed a rest.

One hypothetical scenario:

MU lands a starting C, Tylen Riley, and Cole Certa.

PG James
SG Riley
WG Stevens
PF Parham
C Transfer (Fru/Evans/?)

Certa backup SG/WG; 6th man shooter off of the bench.

Owens backup SF/PF; combo forward

Pearson backup PF/C; combo big

Riley plays PG when James rests.

1. This is a Scoop.
2. Don't shoot a messenger.

Leon decided he was going to Iowa state weeks ago.
Are you mad that I don't think this team opts to win the agent bidding war for Fru and Evans? (They still could i just don't think they do it.) Also, there are other factors for one of these guys that i won't get into.
Marquette won't get a chance with Certa until after he visits Clemson.

Minessale i have been silent  on since everyone has seen the fit since November. I hope it comes but there hasn't been movement until he entered the portal yesterday.

I was the person that pointed out Tylen Riley 3 days ago.

I was hinting to everyone how that Riley being a target was forecastable.

I am sorry, I am flippant and just type "no" sometimes.

I like it in theory. I don't know if Certa is as real as Riley. Just a gut feeling. Granted we are waiting for both players to take a visit before our visit.

I'd like to see a bigger starting lineup than that.  I'd prefer one of Certa or Riley (preferably the latter) and then either Minessale or Amari Evans, along with Fru or Kyle Evans.

My perfect portal would be a fourth spot opening up and getting Fru plus three of Amari Evans/Riley/Minessale/Kyle Evans (I think in that order).

brewcity77

I don't want anything to do with Certa. He doesn't play D, which will make it hard to get on the floor for Shaka. And if he's coming in strictly as a shooter, I'd want someone who shoots better.

Right now, my hope is Fru & Minessale. In a dream world, add Caedin's buddy Nik Khamenia.

But really, if we get a third, either a guard that can shoot, defend, & play both 1 and 2 or a 4/5 that can play alongside Parham, Fru, or Sheek. Maybe even alongside 2 of the others.

Would absolutely say yes to Fru and Riley. Certa can shoot but what is the point of having Phillips and Nash Walker?

SchnitzelBoy

Riley, Fru and either Minessale or Khamenia would be the best-case scenario for MU this spring.
