Iowa st signed Grey, Wiggins, and now Bond.  Have Bateman as well.  Is there playing time for him?  Or is it just the money?

They literally had an announcement that they'd be massively increasing their funding.  It's why TJO stayed.

At the level they were going, it wasn't going to be enough and they'd have probably lost him.

Quote from: MU82 on April 10, 2026, 08:03:06 PMGiven that Minessale's career 3-point percentage is 30.8% - including 30.6% last season on 4.2 attempts per game - it would probably be foolish to expect him to be a good long-range shooter for his next team.

Of course, Kolek went from 28% as a sophomore to 40% as a junior ... so I guess we (or some other fanbase) will get to see how much like TK he is. (At least in that department.)

However Kolek also shot 37% from 3 as a freshman.  He just had a really rough shooting transition year that sophomore year.  I agree Minessale's not gonna be a weapon from deep.

I was not keen on adding him when people talked about him last offseason cause a 6'5 SG that can't shoot the 3 well doesn't excite me in a a higher level league than the Summit.  But he had a really nice year and the team could use another proven scorer, so if he could give 10-12 a night on near 60% EFG, that could work

You are massively underestimating how much of a problem a 6'5 ball handler is in the college game.

We can debate whether Minesale is comparable to Kolek or not. However he is more than likely a better player than the ones he is replacing.

Yes, NJ & Fru were not following each other as of this past Tuesday.

They're both white.  That's why I comp them.

Quote from: Juan Anderson's Mixtape on April 10, 2026, 02:08:37 PMNo idea what the actual market is in terms of real dollars, but let's talk about some hypotheticals.

If onepost is correct, and Marquette is paying Nigel James $3 million dollars, we can build a rough estimate based on catch-all analytics.

I will use BPR in my example.  Nigel James had a BPR last season of +4.99.  If he truly is valued at $3 million, then Fru, with a BPR of +5.68, would be worth about $3.4 million.

If MU was willing to pay a 10% premium based on position scarcity and roster need for a starting C, Fru could be worth about $3.75 million.

These numbers fall within the reported $3-4 million range for starting a C.  Again, no idea if that's the true market rate, but these hypothetical numbers do line up.
Remember the movie Money Ball? Rather than a GM, Marquette should hire a statistician. That way we just might get the best bang for the buck when evaluating transfers.

Sure, if they have the equivalent of 3 Cy Young winners on the team and an MVP like Miguel Tejada who isn't shown in the movie.

For anyone dreaming of a TCU transfer, Trilly has Punch out to Texas.

Tylen Riley took a huge step this season, averaging 15.0 points on 38.9 percent shooting from three for the 30-8 Tulsa team. For his efforts this season, he earned 2nd-Team All-American Conference honors. The 6-foot-3 guard will visit Cincinnati this coming week and is in the process of locking in a date with Ole Miss and Auburn. I am told that Riley will also look to visit Marquette and Maryland.
