TAMU, Knower of Ball

Quote from: Tarragona on April 27, 2026, 09:27:24 AMI am saying Sheek is being contacted by other schools since entering the portal.

Schools would never disrespect the do not contact tag!

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

This is correct.  There are rules to the portal and not following them lead to grave consequences for the schools breaking them.

Quote from: Litehouse on April 27, 2026, 09:38:23 AMSLU would have a roster spot, but would they still be willing to pay the same amount of money that initially lured Sheek into the portal?  And would these other schools be willing to pay him that much as well?

If SLU is actively still recruiting Sheek today, and they are, then they are aware of the costs involved vs what they have already spent on their roster. In other words, after adding two front court portal players already, plus returning 9 roster players, and adding 2 Freshmen, SLU has not decreased their level of interest for, or recruitment of, Sheek.

That doesn't mean they will land Sheek. But I would he very surprised if SLU did not add at least 1 more big this cycle.and they are aware of the costs involved for Sheek and for others.

SLU also wants to add a player that can "replace" Dion Brown. If push comes to shove and they cannot do both, their preference is a big because they are more comfortable with their returning guards than bigs. They idealistically want to do both.

I would encourage anyone to always consider a source or sources of information. And I would also encourage anyone to keep track for reliability purposes.

You wrote "Other schools have interest in Sheek too". My question was "Speculation or specific landing places?". You did not answer the question then, and this answer sounds like one that a political candidate would offer.

I kindly shared what I know as I do sometimes with other subjects, in other threads.

Telling me I don't know something isn't going to get me to say anything more, or differently, than what I have already said on the subject.

There are other potential bigs out there as well for Marquette.

MU82

Cool. Thanks for the speculation. We're all pretty good at that here.

This is the key. If Tarragona turns out to be right, it might indicate it's more important to trust her in the future. If not, then maybe it was bad info or her sources are inaccurate.

There are plenty of times people on these sites know things and aren't able to share the how or why. And there are times reliable posters get bad info. There's no real benefit to getting mad at the messenger, though.

MU82

For the record, brew, I'm not "mad" at Tarragona at all. Legit questions were asked; rather than answers, speculation was presented. And that's OK.

Same here. I asked a simple question that was not answered. If a confidential source was involved, say so, and if it was pure speculation...again, say so.

Do I really have to say the word "sources" every time? I can do that if you want.

"Sources" Marquette Women's Soccer will be reaching out to Wake Forest transfer Sonoma Bever on Friday. I am not unsure.

If I don't know something, I will ask, or I will not say anything at all. If I am unsure about something I will make it clear I am unsure.

As recently as the other day, I asked why there was so much vitriol for Val Ackerman on social media. I had my own ideas. But I asked, and people kindly answered with their thoughts and opinions.

I've shared what I know and what I am comfortable sharing. (Sometimes knowing something means not sharing it too)

I've tried to be helpful.

I get that.  A poster here who has contributed enough to the BTD fund to get into the cool kid receptions has been kind enough to DM me well sourced information that turned out to be remarkably accurate.   Though he said there would only be two transfers out, I think the Sheek departure blindsided everyone enough that I am willing to forgive that one.

THANK YOU, anonymous poster!

It is a difficult line to know what to go public with and how.  Keep doing what you think is best.

personally I think it would be hilarious if SLU tampered with Sheek with an offer of 7 figures to get him into the Portal with a no-contact tag, then they didn't land him. He'd have no reason not to talk when NCAA Enforcement reached out to him.

Ehhh, yes he would. Then the potential "next schools" may look at him as a snitch. Not worth it.

Lots of Greyson Uelmen smoke.
There's some thought he committed to UNI (Seth Tuttle, old player and current assistant, dropped I guess his version of an "it's happening" gif on Twitter). Hope it's not related to Uelmen, he'd be a great bench guard.

Sounds like the staff stayed late today, here's hoping it's for a guard or a big.

Agree. Yes Rosenberger who used to stop in our company often.
And as Hank used to say about Jim Boylan whose birthday it is today. Al you got to get him he can play.
Which is not necessarily true of all the players on our current roster,

Yup.  I remember a poster friend, posting here that Dominic James was going to play in the tourney after his injury.  Everyone demanded his sources which he did not.  Everyone called him a liar and he had the post removed.

Wonder if James did play in that game after all?   ::)
