Or there is a bigger bag elsewhere.  Could be lots of reasons.  But I'm sure it's because he's afraid to compete with the returning players for time because he thinks the coach won't play him.

He is 18 years old. Go play at a low major or a high major with a 12-20 record.

False! Was waiting for 18 to leave. Didn't happen, so he's out.

Quote from: Jay Bee on April 21, 2026, 08:55:07 PMSheek may have been thinking exactly what I have been talking about - Shaka's weird thing with 18. Prob waited til the end to see if 18 would leave. Now, needed to notify and did bc 18 don't.

So he would have stayed if Shaka got rid of Caedin, but would have no issue if we added another big in the portal with Fru?  This doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm guessing, 100% guess, that Sheek moving on hasn't caught Shaka off guard. I'm sure there are down low players being communicated with about transferring in. Quite frankly, I'd rather have a front court guy, even from a mid-major, that has a couple of D-1 seasons on his Nike's, than the unknown that Sheek presented. Skinny, 18 yrs old against bad ass front lines like a Michigan? No thanks. But it's a damn unsettling thought if Hamilton (whom I do not consider even mid major talent from what I've seen to this point) and Clark as depth behind Fru. Also interesting that we've now had 4 guys transfer out.  However...James, Stevens, Parham, Fru will be solid. Each of those guys just might be All Big East. Phillips, Minessale (if he's in fact signed) and Owens could each be very good. Add another 'big' via the portal and Sheek transferring out might be a blessing in disguise. Lots of guys out there. Next couple of weeks should be interesting.

Well if he's concerned Caedin & Josh will play ahead of him, that's not exactly promising.

Bingo. Lots of things don't make any sense to you.

For him.  He came to Marquette for the school anyway, not playing time.

So let me get this straight:  If we landed McKeever with Fru, and Caedin was gone, Sheek would have no interest in leaving?

It's also 100% wrong. Josh and Caedin had nothing to do with Sheek leaving.

Vander Blue Man Group

Money would be my guess. This is just bizarre to me.

Does this mean Evans is coming???

Edit. No. Just saw he committed to NC State.

Well, there's plenty of time for Shaka to fill a spot with another baller as far as I'm concerned.  Next man up.

This is college basketball now. Marquette is not immune, we are probably  going to lose at least one guy we wanted to keep nearly every year. Hard to believe this has anything to do with redshirting last year or Fru committing. If hes half as a good as his top 50 rating hed play a ton next year, and with fru graduating in a year have a clear path to 3 years as the starter. My worthless speculation is he doesn't like MKE,doesnt get along with teammates well, or got a good offer by a poacher coach. In any case its real gut punch. I was  high on the kid and was excited to see him and fru take over  the frontcourt and mot see Hamilton anymore.

Quote from: panda on April 21, 2026, 08:51:50 PMAgain - lunacy why some folks here believed our roster was good with 2 or maybe 3 additions.

We lose sheek to transfer but it very well could've been an early season injury and the lack of depth rears its ugly head.

But I'm glad we have 18 and Hamilton still on the roster for the good vibes.

The lunacy is this system that essentially requires programs to build a whole new roster every year. For every player a team brings in there's going to be one or more who sees that new player as taking their minutes.

Why bother recuiting high school players when you can just go to Europe and get 23 year old professionals?

Get use to it.  This is the new world.  More than likely to have one like this, if not more on a yearly basis.

Time for the staff to put on there big boy pants and get to work.

I'm guessing a blue blood offered some cash and MU couldn't or wouldn't match it. So long RGV, it's been (mostly) good to know ya.

JTJ3

Lots of money.  Good for Sheek I guess.

Small Orange Soda

So I guess Caedin isn't the last man on the roster anymore. Hope Shaka replaces Sheek with someone who is behind Fru but ahead of him.

Apparently there are downsides to keeping terrible players on the roster.

My guess is not a blue blood, but SLU. Shaka got played.

???  WTF are you talking about?

This had nothing to do with 18. This had to do with a better offer.

It's adorable you think he left because Hamilton and Clark are on the roster.
