Quote from: Galway Eagle on April 21, 2026, 09:43:43 PMSo do we do the Illinois route and get into shady deals with Eastern European agents? Quickly drop a bag to a 17yr old saying graduate early and get paid! Or ask Caedin to do 20k hook shots this summer?

More likely they dip back into the portal and bring aboard another young big.

Might cause Caedin or Josh to transfer if they get recruited over though.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I hope not even though Caedin caused Sheek to transfer.  I'd still start Caedin next year.  He's got that dawg in him now knowing coach is 💯 behind him as the starter.

Quote from: Vander Blue Man Group on April 21, 2026, 09:51:31 PMI don't see your first sentence as even a remote possibility.

The most likely reason is money. I guess I foolishly didn't think another program would drop a bag for a redshirt freshman, especially because he had a clear path to minutes this season and a starting role the next.
maybe its $. Maybe Sheek isn't down with the coaches? Vice versa? Oh well, cast a line and troll slow. Somethin' will hit.

Frankly, a poor argument. I'm certainly not the first person who has had to deal with you arrogance on this board. Caedin is now the backup center. Take the L, brother.

Now, who do you think we should target moving forward?

I'm guessing the roster for next year is set.

And if Caedin was kicked off the team like you want, then Clark is your backup center now. So what's your point? Caedin being on the roster is not why our backup center is in a bad spot. It would be no better with him off the roster.

Quote from: The Sultan on April 21, 2026, 09:24:09 PMMy guess is not a blue blood, but SLU. Shaka got played.

That's a good guess. Better role and money. Paying for Sheek likely throws this roster out of whack and may have had other side effects (e.g not being able to land Fru, Minessale, or retain a different existing player). It was the right decision for this season to add those 2 transfers and wouldn't trade either one for Sheek (for next season at least).

F*CK. Just reading all of this now. Sheek was the player I was most looking forward to seeing on the court next year... 😭

I remember him saying something along the lines of how the culture is what drew him to Marquette, so I'm surprised he's leaving. Really thought he'd be a program/Shaka guy.

Glad you're starting to get it. You, Vander, Sultan, 82, etc. all said it's fine, we got Sheek. Well, now he's gone. So now what? Maybe Shaka should've tried to improve those roster spots?

I'm with Muggsy. Nobody here knows the story. Could be personal reasons, sick parent, who knows. Two scholarships open. Let's get after it and fill it. Who's out there that we want? A reclass like Davis? A bigger name? We definitely must be behind the 8-ball on this one given the confirmed MU announcement on Nolan and Sananda. I'm all over the place right now but gotta move on.

He did improve the roster. We still had an open roster spot. Caedin being on the roster is not the issue. Why is this hard for you to understand?

Disappointing for sure, but not catastrophic. I do hope Shaka can enter the portal again to secure another big man. We'd be a Fru injury away from things going down the sh1tter

I am confused, are you asserting players are lining up to be the backup to the backup center? Let alone the backup to the backup to the backup? Both just in case the guy we had counted on to split the minutes at center with a spell at PF would leave? I don't think the portal is full of those guys...

You and Sultan really don't want to explain it, because you have to defend Hamilton. He is now the backup center that you all said was Sheek's spot. "14th or 15th on the roster". You guys could just say you respect Shaka but he's way off on this.

They're not. So we got Caedin. One of the worst players in the Big East. But Shaka thinks he's the best defender on the team.

We are no longer a Fru injury away from things going down the sh1tter. As of right now, with a healthy Fru, we would be relying on Hamilton/Clark for ~15-20 minutes a game (Fru averaged 22mins last season). No matter how you slice it that is an absolute disaster and cannot happen.

Another big pick up in the portal is a must.

I think some Scoopers are overly obsessed with Caedin and not just with regards to Sheek.  I'm not happy about this development at all, but I don't think it's rational to believe his presence or spot on tbe roster has some sort of impact on perceptions of Shaka or MU culture.  Furthermore, and I write this as someone who vehemently criticized Caedin all last season, I see no purpose in killing the kid 7 months before we lace it up again.  If he sucks he won't play unless absolutely necessary.  And again, I think we have plenty of time to find a replacement for Sheek.

With the current roster makeup, he or Clark will HAVE to play, and not just 5-6 per game.
