Quote from: wadesworld on July 16, 2025, 02:50:25 PMDespite 2 Finals MVPs, the guy can't lead a team to a title.

Unlike Jimmy Butler, who joined the same team KD joined and has 0 titles to his name.  Now that guy can lead a team to a title.

So, Durant led GS to a title without Steph, Klay, and Iggy.

Read your post. Your said Durant led the team to a title and Jimmy couldn't with the same team.

Sorry but the teams weren't even close to being similar.

Durant had Green, Steph, and Klay.

Butler had Green, Podziemski, and Moody.

Durant couldn't even win a playoff game in 3 years in Phoenix.

Did Steph retire before last season and I missed it?

Notice how KD won back to back Finals MVPs and then had to try to come back too quickly, resulting in a torn achilles, because they couldn't beat the Raptors without him.

But yeah. Jimmy, with 0 rings, is a guy who leads his team to titles.

Based on your CBA interpretation, will the Bucks get an offset on their cap? I saw some saying we'd get about $5M for a few years starting in 2027. The calculation was half of the difference in what he signed for and the vet minimum.

An interesting move by the Blazers, especially with the cap hell is sets them up with going into the next off-season:
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/damian-lillards-return-to-portland-is-a-great-story-but-also-a-questionable-basketball-move/

I don't find this signing coincidental at all, considering that just the day before, Adam Silver mentioned that Portland needs a new arena. The city and state have gone all in on trying to get an MLB expansion team for nearly 10 years now, even though the city's economy has tanked since 2020 and MLB cooled on Portland due to the economic and social issues of the city. In the end the city and people of Portland basically took the Blazers for granted. Now there is a real threat of the Blazers moving a few hours north up I-5, so why not bring back the most beloved Blazers player in franchise history (sorry Big Red)?

Whoever said that is DEAD WRONG.

You can expect their cap hit (and payments) to drop to around $20M per year, for the 5 years.

If a new deal is 3 years, the third year is irrelevant for the Bucks. Don't get to include that, as the First Contract (the deal that was stretched) was for only two years. There's likely a small escalation over each year, but let's say the total for years 1 and 2 in the new contract, less 1 year vet minimum, were ~$23M. Half of that gets you to around $11.5M. Spread that over the stretched time -- 5 years. That's about $2.3M per year.

So, I expect the Bucks cap hit to be about $20M per year for the next 5 years, #donedeal.

Thank you for admitting I was right about the off-set.

This is why you simply said "read the CBA." You had no idea what was involved with a stretch, so you waited until today to get your numbers from elsewhere and passed them off as your own.

Anyway, yes I was wrong that Dame would sign the minimum. See how easy that is?

Completely false. I hasn't seen anyone post anything about the amounts. You were wrong. I was right. Good to see someone comes up with the same calcs as me.
