This is boring.  Write each other naughty notes and be done with it.

Quote from: wadesworld on July 16, 2025, 07:07:34 PMDid Steph retire before last season and I missed it?

Notice how KD won back to back Finals MVPs and then had to try to come back too quickly, resulting in a torn achilles, because they couldn't beat the Raptors without him.

But yeah. Jimmy, with 0 rings, is a guy who leads his team to titles.

We are both engaging in a bit of performance art here. But it's a fun argument to have. It is what sports is all about.

I'd much rather argue/discuss with you, though, rather than sultan getting involved.

Billy Donovan extended. lol.
Not unexpected. Donovan's is a below average coach who's only goal is to get a paycheck. He has never challenged the players or the front office. He is JR's wet dream of an employee.

He's not a good coach, but he's smart. Head down, mouth shut and paycheck every week.

Javale McGee signs with Illawarra in the Aussie NBL, home of the Brothers Froling and former employer of Lamelo Ball pre-NBA.  Not a bad deal as he's getting $6M+ from the Mavs the next 3 years as well.

Its interesting this segment of NBA guys who keep playing post NBA.  With the ever increasing salary cap, there are tons of guys who make $50/60/70M+ in their career despite not being stars.  And not being stars, there is less easy media or the like to do right after the NBA runs out, so might as well hoop somewhere interesting for a bit.

Yes there is the Antoine Walker "I'm actually broke scenario" but McGee is a pretty bright guy who has done a lot of venture investing and been open about his successful ventures off the court.  Australia is probably a fun little jaunt for a year.

DeMarcus Cousins has been playing in PR.  I think that league is especially interesting as a retirement league cause it seems to be good money in a fun spot in a fun league, bunch of former NBA guys there that made plenty of NBA money too.

Coffey seems like a good pick-up for the Bucks.

The Bucks may be better than people think.  Partly because the East is wide open.

I think all the injuries changed it from a transition year to the let's make a run at the East.

They still don't really have a point guard but they do have some shooting around Giannis.  Defensively, I have no idea if they can cause some resistance.  You would think getting Lillard off the floor wouldn't hurt.  They aren't a great rebounding team.

I think the guys they have returning plus Leonard should help the defense. I think we will seeing more Point Giannis. I dont think the traditional PG role is as important in the NBA anymore.

I don't think of him as much of a rebounder.  He's a good shot blocker.  He's definitely a step up from Lopez either way

Jaylen Brown thinks Giannis is childish for a fake handshake.  Meanwhile his dad is out here stabbing people over a parking spot.

I get it, but I don't think he is close to his dad.

Derrick Rose was with the Bulls for eight seasons. Missed one full season, most of two others and a good chunk of yet another with injuries.

Made it to the conference finals only one time, losing in 5 games to Miami.

The Bulls are gonna retire his number.

MVP.  Career cut short by injury.  Non-story.

Well sure, Unk. But we're allowed to have conversations on a fan board.

Not that I really care whose numbers the Bulls retire, as I'm neither a fan nor a hater. But a franchise that won 6 NBA titles retiring the number of a guy who only played 5 full seasons while experiencing no real team success seems like a pretty low bar to me.

Joakim Noah was with the Bulls for 9 seasons. Defensive Player of the Year. First-team All-NBA. Top-5 MVP voting. Averaged 10+ rebounds over his final 7 seasons with the Bulls. Career cut short by injury. Retire his number?
