I liked that NonConf Grade Poll...hope we have another at the end of the regular season....but curious the Scoop expectations before be get started.

If you want to get specific who you think gives us trouble, Hit the comments

I say UConn and Creighton away will be tough. Everyone else we beat wherever whenever. I love it that our first game is big away. Providence

I would like this thread to "exceed expectations," so I am immediately ticking all the boxes:

- Wojo
- Crean
- Indiana
- Freeway
- Mbakwe
- Price of beer at Fiserv
- Buzz
- Bracketology

Think it'll be a different animal on the road for MU this year with regards to facing hostile crowds. Expectations are to repeat as champs but we may get upset more than we'd like on the road.

It's Indiana!

The last time I saw Freeway he said "How about Horace Grant and the Chicago Bulls?"

I thought that was a more interesting conversation starter than the cliched Michael Jordan talk.

Sorry, typo, corrected

Carl

Your 5 loss "disappointing" season is good enough for a share of the title in 7 of those 10 years.

Mu8891

I think MU goes 16 - 4 ... or 15 - 5

No better.   They have way too many chinks in the armor.  Jop is not playing well ... and certainly not replacing OMAX..

They have two guys shooting about
.10 % from 3 ...

And they are gonna get every teams best shot

Certainly the verbiage on the choices is my commentary and don't expect people to agree with that necessarily. Really just trying to poll the number.

Believe me for this year 5-7 losses in the BE will disappoint me.

As for the 7 out of 10 thing, not sure the math you're using. 5 losses would make a 15-5 record and 750 winning pct which appears to be less than most of those winning teams in the last 10 years...but I could  be missing something.

This is a good point. I remember those years of hunting Villanova to get that quality win. Could turn a game against us.

Daniel

The Big East will indeed be a BEast this year.   Like was said, everyone is gub I g for us, no surprises with the KolekIsa duo, and we need overall better shooting.   I think every game can be a challenge as we saw with St Thomas who was hitting record shots while we were not.   Need to play our A game most of the time.

wisblue

Pomeroy says 15-5, which by the terms of this poll says "Expect to be disappointed".

With the nonconference base to work on, 15-5 should be good for about a 3 seed in the NCAA and should  be in contention for the conference title unless UConn dominates.

It's worth noting that the 2018 Villanova team that won the NCAA torurnament was 14-4 in the Big East and last year's UConn team was 13-7. So, a "disappointing" conference season does not preclude postseason success.

MU last year went 12-0 against the 6 conference teams that were not in contention for the title and did not make the NCAA tournament. That is going to be very difficult to repeat.

Really?  This is a pretty soft year.  UConn excepted. Sure winning on the road will still be tough everywhere and at Villanova and at Creighton very, very tough. However, overall I'd say it is less of a Beast than in a fairly long time.

tower912

There is a pretty clear stratification.

MU, UCONN, Creighton
Villanova
X, SHU, SJU, Providence, Butler

DePaul, Georgetown

Maybe I am overthinking it but I think Creighton is a step behind MU and UConn:

LOL. My typo has me roaring now because of you!  Ty!

FairWeatherEagle

Thanks for the replies on this Poll. I think we all have high expectations and perhaps mine are too high. Maybe an injury free, consistently high level is too much to expect from kids. There's reason to think it's possible.  Great game to start with tonight!
