Kam 4-4 from 2p range again, Dude's a wizard for only having one leg.

Yeah, it was really unreasonable for anyone to think that this would be a competitive game and that MU might have been in trouble if Kam Jones had been unable to play.

BLWarrior91

Kam plays with such poise for a second year player.  His ability to get to the hoop with those spin moves is incredible.

Of course that's reasonable. But the level of Debbie Downerdom was silly IMHO.

I'm guessing there were some folks (not saying you) just dying to say "I told you so," too.

This ain't past seasons' Marquette teams. Enjoy it and be confident.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Kam was playing with a big ole pad on his hip. Didn't seem to bother him.

Sean...it may be awhile. Going from testing it out before the DePaul game to street clothes is never an encouraging sign.

Those spin moves around the rim, especially in the 2nd half, whoooo boy. He got things going offensively with those crafty moves when the 3 wasn't dropping.

Can you give me an example of silly "Debbie Downerdom" in this thread?

I find it hard locate true pessimistic comments among  the much more numerous absurd and "humorous" comments, like the ones that refer to broken legs, amputation, unable to get out of bed, etc. IMHO, that kind of crap makes the threads much more unreadable than some pessimism.

It is possible to enjoy the season and be confident while still respecting opponents (especially ones loaded with veteran players who have played on conference championship and Final Four teams) and not taking anything for granted.

I've never seen the need to act superior and ridicule people who choose a different way to follow their favorite teams. Different strokes.

Love it.

I also love that the bench does the rockabye baby whenever Kam makes those sweet moves in the lane.

His shot reminded me of the parachute drop, just waiting 8 seconds for it to land.

I love that it was a shot more than a heave. He pulled up, jumped and took a longer version of his mile-high jumper.

Heck, it was only about 10-12 feet farther back than a few of his shots have been these last 2 years.

Well, I'm not gonna go back and re-read all 8 pages, but here's a few from the first two:

Eerily similar to 2018-2019 when Marquette started 23-4 and had the season derailed by a Markus Howard injury. Tough to have your leading scorer not at 100%.

I was obviously using a little hyperbole with the "Debbie Downerdom" reference (but just a little -- if you want REAL Debbie Downerdom, go to the Finishing with a Flourish thread to read comments from all those worried about losing at Butler).

Look, if you want to say that Scoopers were calmly expressing mild concern about this game -- and the entire season -- even though nobody knew the extent of Kam's injury, that's OK. You're entitled and you can have the last word. Have a good one.

I really wanted one of the reporters interviewing Shaka post-game to be a smart ass and ask if he plans on incorporating that as a regular play in the offense.

My last word will be to point out that your quote from me was lifted out of context and ignores that it was in direct response to someone who said they were confident that MU could win the next two games even without both Joneses.

I gave the reasons why I thought Villanova would be a tough opponent even if MU was at full strength, and did not make any assumptions about whether or not the players would be out.

Sounds like you are reading a lot of unstated negativism into some of those posts.

Let's just say I'm glad Kam Jones was able to play effectively last night because without his critical contributions a difficult game might have had a different result.
