You think he took all that time off to heal just to come back and give it one year of getting his a$$ beat?

He has looked pretty disengaged during the second half of conference play. Go over to the Butler board, they are asking the same question.

He was always viewed as a risky hire due to his health history.

The guy is a great coach but is now a has-been. There’s no way he has the energy to build Butler back up to a winner.

Matta’s awfully loyal to Butler. Not sure he’d do them like that

Look at it another way - he's loyal to Butler which means he won't half ass it to take a check.

St. John's is evil and must be destroyed.

They also made St. John’s use more energy than they were probably expecting after the first half.

If playing like horsecrap is your idea of credit, then I agree.

Crushed 'em at Carnesecca.

Beat 'em at home despite them making 3 circus shots and beating their season numbers in almost every category.

Looking forward to defeating the Johnnies soundly tomorrow at MSG.

One of the more satisfying games I’ve attended was the 2019 BET tournament game against them when we won by a million. That St Johns team was cocky and swept us in the regular season and also beat us the previous year. Seeing Shamorie Ponds put on his warmup near the end of the game, put the hood over his head and pull the strings so it closed all the way where you couldn’t see his face anymore was just an awesome sight. Here is hoping MU ends their season again tomorrow in similar fashion.

Dangling participle.

We wont lose to STJ.

The big question is game2 ... if its UCONN, everyone is favoring them. Are we as good as we seem to be. If so we beat UC. That will be an important game to say if we are really this good.

I know UC has to beat Providence....if Providence wins, I think we beat them without a problem.  But the importance of the game, defining who we really are, wont be there.

Neither a win nor a loss vs. UConn will "define who we really are." Matchups matter. Teams can have incredible nights or off nights. Foul trouble can be a factor. Etc etc etc. I won't think we're doomed if we lose; and I won't think we've got it made if we beat 'em.

According to Professor Dodds SJ will have an advantage tomorrow because they played today. They had a chance to shake the tournament jitters and get used to the rims and the environment.

Fatigue isn’t a factor until a team plays 3 days in a row.

The good thing is that a number of people think the top 16 seeds will be locked in by the end of the night tonight.  So this weekend is just about getting ready for the NCAA Tournament.

don't forget - Marquette is rusty from not playing, hard to beat a team 3 times, and STJ won't be facing the extreme force of nature they did on "Senior Night"

And with a potential matchup against UConn looming, this has all the makings of a trap game.  👀

Will we also have to overcome the Championship Blue jinx?  And the fact that we'll be on National TV????  OMG
