A top 5 team hasn't won at a Top 5 teams home gym (Including UConn in that) yet the last I checked.  Xavier has that opportunity twice this week.  Hopefully MU is the first to do it in Storrs.

The game is actually scheduled to be played in Hartford, not Storrs. I imagine when they scheduled that they might not have realized how significant that game might be.

The lack of respect from the UCONN schedulers is disgusting.

16-4 should take it imo. Xavier is the only team that can take the crown from Marquette. Uconn has 5 conference losses and I just don't see marquette losing 3 more games and at the same time Uconn running the table the rest of the way. That leaves Providence and Creighton but both play each other and the other top 5 in the league 5 more times which should cannabolize themselves. That Depaul win vs Xavier was huge for our chances. Xavier could very well go 0-2 this week with two huge road games. Marquette could be in sole position of 1st before they even play there next game.

At 8-2, MU would be 16-4. MU only plays 3 games against the Top 5. @UConn, @creighton, Xavier.

UConn is out of the Big East Championship picture but can easily be a spoiler and will be a tough out.

Providence, who plays Butler on Wednesday, will most likely be tied with MU going into the weekend.  Whether that is first or Second will depend on Xavier. Providence has 4 games against the Top 5. Two with Xavier and then Creighton and @Uconn

Xavier has the hardest remaining schedule with 5 games against the top 5. 4 on the road and only 1 at home. @Uconn, @Creighton, @ MU, @Providence and Providence at home. with 11 left we need them to go at best 8-3.  Ideally that would be @Uconn, @MU, and split with Providence.

Finally the dark horse is Creighton, only a game back of MU. Getting healthy. They only have 4 against the Top 5 but 3 @ Home and 1 away. With 12 left, they would need to go 11-1.  Seems unlikely but possible.  If MU loses more than 2 they can creep back into this.

DePaul is playing very much better.   Now that they are healthy and have a full team.

I believe it was originally supposed to be in Storrs because I looked at the UConn schedule several times and decided I wasn't driving to Storrs on a weeknight.  An alum on Saturday pointed out to me that it's now at the XL.  I took a look and the XL is looking very full.

Funny you should mention that.  Exactly 24 months ago today, I was nodding off in the Glendale Arby's drive thru waiting for my BnC order, and I was dreaming such a thing. Only to be awaken to a voice telling me Arby's no longer sells potato cakes.

That Glendale Arby's should still be a Burger King.  I'll die on that hill.  #facts.

The drawback to our remaining schedule is that while it's a great opportunity to get a Big East title, there aren't many chances to improve the resume. I did a quick crunch this morning. I think 7-3 or 8-2 keeps us on the 4-line, 9-1 gets us to a 3, and 10-0 gets us a 2-seed. Win all the way to the BET final and we'll be in the conversation for a 1.

We have games against UConn and Xavier plus another game against Creighton.  Wins in these games definitely help the ravine.  We also have to rely on other teams above us losing which helps you move up.  The resume is already strong; just keep winning and things take care of themselves.

Top ten teams rarely have opportunities to boost their resume…only hurt it with bad losses.  Just keep winning and it will work out fine.

The question was if 9-1 locks us into a 2-seed and I don't think it does. You mention the 3 Q1 games, but beyond that, at Butler is our only remaining Q2 game. 6/10 games won't help us.

If we want a protected seed, just winning 8/9 games will insure that. If we want to get to the top-2 lines, we pretty much need to win out.

To win the Big East, I think we have to go 8-2.  With the next 5 being slightly easier than the 5 after that,  I think Shaka will have the team focused.  With a week off before DePaul, I think he will have them rejuvenated and focused on winning.  I think realistically the team will go 4-1 with a loss to UConn most likely but I don't see 5-0 as out of the question.

Agree with all this except what you say about 2-3. I'd be more disappointed than "well this is unfortunate," and Scoop probably would be up for grabs.

Does playing MU in Hartford with its bigger capacity really show a lack of respect?

Voted 5-0  - - As Shaka said, Oso is becoming a "dude."  Chase on the rise.  Kolek a better threat offensively.  Kam hitting peak form.  Great time for the week off to refresh the bodies.  Shaka thinks our defense still has a lot of improvement capability.  UCONN will be borderline desperate to beat us on their home floor, but I think we prevail.

All good points.  I’m with you on this.  Unfortunately I picked 4-1 this morning.  I regret that decision.

At this point, I fully believe that MU will take care of business in the games they should win. I get folks being concerned about a slip up against a lower team, like this Saturday, but this year MU is much better than the bottom six teams in the BE. In addition, this team looks fully in control of their emotions and understand the goals they have set out to achieve. Good teams beat the teams they are supposed to beat, and they know what happened last year at Butler and DePaul.

After the win last Saturday, I changed my thoughts on the final twelve games from 8-4 to 9-3. Take one win and at a time and go from there. Again, this team looks to be in complete control and playing their style of basketball. The only wrinkle I can being added is being more creative on defense and getting ready for March. They have been somewhat vanilla in their defensive looks and that is one area they can improve and alter games with a new twist.

I agree with you...but...Xavier is a good team. That said, I think Marquette will win its games against the teams that they are "supposed to beat."

I have a lot of confidence in our guys. The Seton Hall game was one that past versions of the Warriors would have stumbled and lost. Not here. The Connectivity of this team and the energy they bring is compelling. Period.

Not going to predict for the rest of the season but I'm guessing a 4 or 5 seed contingent on (a) Not falling off during the last part of the Big East season (including ugly upsets at places like the Winnie); (b) A good showing in the Big East Tournament.

If we win the Big East and win the tournament, I could see us being a two seed. That's contingent on winning at either Creighton or Storrs and, possibly, beating Xavier at home. If we do all three -- look out!

Despite their problems in BE play, UCONN is still dangerous, and a W on the road there would be huge. Hopefully I am not being naive, but I would be a little surprised if we lose to X at home. Now Creighton? I don't know what to make of them.

You are correct on X and I expect a battle in that game. That said, it is a game I give them 75% chance of winning. Not a slam dunk by any means, but MU is a good team as well and playing at home.
