It may be game 3 but we're gonna find out a lot about this tean tonight.  Do NOT get cheap fouls on Edey or be worried about him getting big numbers.  ERASE the other Purdue players and get this into a track meet.  Smother these guys all over the floor, turn them over, and be relentless for 40 mins.  Take some charges and fight for every single rebound.  Tonight is s great opportunity for our ball club.  I'd like to see Kam go off and a barrage of threes

Need to see a few go through the hoop early and we'll be fine.

brewcity77

Zach Edey already has new career highs in points, rebounds, & blocks in the first week of the season. We look at Purdue's first couple games, particularly their freshman starting back court, to see what we can expect tonight.

On the record, I expect a win.

At Purdue!?

Marquette doesn't beat Purdue, let alone beat Purdue on the road.

Factually incorrect

And if Koby McEwen can do it. I think this team can do it.

Fk Purdue.  That program hasn't done didly squat in the tournament since Rick Mount.

False.

Rationally I think a W is going to be very difficult but if we play with poise and intelligence it can be done.  I'd like to see us get to the line early along with drilling the 3 ball.  Can we turn them over?  Is it time to get medieval?

False.

They had a run and then lost to Virginia a few years ago.  Who gives a S?  They have 0.0000000 NCAA titles.

They also made a Final Four in 1980. We celebrate 2003 here - would never call that run "diddly squat."

And 1980 was 1980.

The Purdue vs. UVA game was one of the best basketball games I've ever seen.

I mean...since our last NCAAT win they've gone to 3 sweet 16s and an Elite 8. Probably shouldn't be criticizing them on tournament success. Glass houses and all

Something that I'm not sure has been mentioned is Edey's conditioning. He played 31 minutes against Austin Peay on Friday. That was his career high in minutes. He had to play that because the rest of his team was helpless on offense, he scored 30 of their 63 points. 5 other players tied for second in scoring with 5 apiece. In their opening game, he played 25 minutes which was tied for the 4th most minutes he's ever played in game. Purdue plays at a plodding pace. If we can control the tempo and make Edey run up and down the floor, I don't think he'll be out there very long. There a much different team without him on the floor. I'm assuming they will counter by playing zone and trying to turn the game into a slog. Gotta take advantage of their young and out of position guards to force transition.

Marquette has lost its last seven games away from MKE. Let's not make it 8.

How can you hate Purdue? I can see being sickened by the sight of Ed Cooley's scalp, but hating on the Boilers???

Right. They are a reasonably successful program, lead by a perfectly competent head coach who is completely uncontroversial and uninteresting.

I loathe them because of a personal experience I had with their fan base in 2011.  I had tickets to the United Center games in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament.  Simultaneously Marquette was playing Syracuse so I essentially missed the entire first half of Purdue/VCU (Shaka's F4 team).  When we came back to our seats (all in Marquette gear) totally jacked when DJO iced the game and we disposed of Syracuse,  a couple of Purdue fans took our seats.  We politely asked them to leave and they got all pissy about it.   Anyway, they did eventually leave but the surrounding Purdue fans were also pretty perturbed with our extreme enthusiasm over Marquette and my particular cheering for VCU and Joey Rodriguez.  Despite that it was truly a glorious day with MU winning, Purdue getting shellacked, and Notre Dame getting throttled to close my afternoon.  :)

So you hate them because some of their fans were upset that people that clearly had no rooting interest (wearing Marquette gear) were gleeful, while their team was losing, about the outcome of a game that wasn't even in the same city and then those gleeful fans were rooting against their team while their team was losing?  Again, despite the team they had fan gear on for was not even playing in the same city?

Sounds like the problem was probably more you than them.
