Purdue leads Austin Peay 13-10 with 10:00 to go in the 1st half.

Edey is 4-4, the guy he is guarding is 4-5 with all 10 of Austin Peay's points.

Ty for the update.

Edey finishes with 30 points on 12 of 13 shooting and 11 rebounds.  Also had 4 fouls, 3 turnovers and 1 block in 31 minutes.
Purdue wins 63-44.

Worth noting it was 11 rebounds, not 1. He's averaging 21/14 in the first two games. Gonna be a load, but I still like our chances. They boot the ball around a lot. Bouncing off feet, knees, or just mishandled dribbles. They often recovered the ball and Austin Peay didn't make them pay, but I think there's a decent chance our pressure will unsettle their guards.

I think the key to the Purdue game is realizing that there are times we are going to get beat by Eddy. When he has gotten position in the post he is going to score. We have to accept this and not foul him when he has gotten the ball in this position.

Pressure, keep our turnovers down and stay out of foul trouble should lead to an MU victory.

Great suggestions, you're spot-on.  There's no way to stop Edey when he gets deep position.  Do not foul, do not let the others go off, take care of the rock, and run, run, run.  I think we can use our speed to exhaust them in the 2nd half.

Gold, during his CMU post game interview, discussing Edey... 'he seems slow'....

Watched Purdue-UWM and at first was pissed that UWM was giving them so much exposure to a full court press, but the Panthers were almost exclusively full court man, so the Purdue guards could break it 1-on-1.

Hopefully they continue to try that against MU's zone pressure.

Great! Reminds me of JJ during the Wojo years ago with his post-game comment after we beat a then respectable Georgetown team in Milwaukee. "Georgetown is lazy". Our trip to DC later that season did not end well.

Edey's recruiting rank was something like 385th to 440th.  Only major schools on him were Purdue and Baylor, and it sounds like his parents asked his coach at IMG to reach out to Painter to start their recruiting.  Now he is a Naismith Award candidate.  Crazy.

Also think Edey and Omax may have been teammates on Canada's 2021 FIBA under 19 team.  Maybe Omax will have some insight on how to play him.  Edey has looked like a giant toying with mere humans so far this year.

As Shaka said, Edey is a match up issue for everybody who plays Purdue this season.

Shaka might as well say the team is young or tired if he’s going to make excuses

Should be an interesting game - My expectations are pretty low so keep it close to the end and it should be fun to watch.

Sounds right to me.  I need to see this team play against good competition before I start betting on them.  Even though I’d like have enough confidence in them to do so now.

Boiler up bar at the Union Club hotel will be my pre-game spot. Harry's will fun, but the manhattan at the Boiler up is a treat, and a Zach Edey pregame calls for bourbon.

It may be game 3 but we're gonna find out a lot about this tean tonight.  Do NOT get cheap fouls on Edey or be worried about him getting big numbers.  ERASE the other Purdue players and get this into a track meet.  Smother these guys all over the floor, turn them over, and be relentless for 40 mins.  Take some charges and fight for every single rebound.  Tonight is s great opportunity for our ball club.  I'd like to see Kam go off and a barrage of threes
