So if you fail the game stays 17-3 (2 possessions).  If you kick a FG it's 20-3.  That's 3 possessions.  24-3 is also 3 possessions.  What am I missing here?

Good thing you called a timeout for that

That wasn't good but at least you're not the Bears.  :(

Christian Watson is horrible at tracking the ball in the air. Not sure I've seen an NFL receiver be worse at tracking the deep ball.

He spent all of last year with Love underthrowing him. It looked identical to the play in DET last year where he DID underthrow him

He was also routinely underthrowing the ball yesterday. At some point the receivers have to assume it'll be under them.

I don't get it. The CB is already weak and now you unloaded Joe Barry's slot CB

The pass rush is bad. Gary, Clark and Van Ness all are way down compared to last year. Gary's two full sacks are when he was unblocked.

Three first round picks and no notable pass rush.

I think there are some scheme related questions here. Otherwise, how did all three drop off so quickly?

Clark is getting old.  LVN appears to just not be very good.  Gary yes.

Clark I get. But even if Van Ness wasn't worth a first round pick, and I think that's pretty obvious, you would expect to see improvement in year two right? Maybe the 4-3 scheme is more problematic than I realized.

Gutekunst is enamored with athletes.  Athletes can play in college.  In the NFL, athletes can get exposed.

Clark is just getting older.  He was a dude.  The other two are athletes who I'm not sure are anything beyond that.  And Gary frustrated Michigan fans in college.  He was a 5* who didn't exactly dominate at that level like expected

Halfley rarely blitzes which means the opposing OL doesn't have to think too much about who to block or prioritize.  It's 5v4 every down, even without TE help.

Agree on Clark. Gary was very good for two years. He also gets double teamed a lot.

Van Ness hasn't shown much of anything besides athleticism.

Meanwhile, my best friend, the Steeler fan, cannot believe they got Preston Smith for a 7th.

The 4-3 is why Preston Smith asked for and got a trade, he prefers playing in a 3-4.
