Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Quote from: Uncle Rico on April 26, 2025, 08:12:25 AMGenevieve O'Reilly was fantastic, especially in episode 3. They've done an incredible job with her arc towards leading the rebellion.

The Gorman foreshadowing will payoff, too.  A little bit on the nose with the migrant farmers but fits our age and the story remarkably well.

Agree on all counts.

O'Reilly has been brilliant in both seasons. Plus, it's a fun story that she was cast for Mon Mothma for Revenge of the Sith, had her scenes cut from the final movie, and decades later getting to star in that very role.

I believe Ghorman will be a major focus for the next story arc. They did a nice job setting it up, while incorporating existing characters and giving them a legitimate reason for being involved.

And the farming story arc really rings true with contemporary events.  Even though those scenes were probably written and shot about 2 years ago, it felt like they were shot just last week.

Agree on the last part.  The dirty secret, well it's not really a secret except to the willfully ignorant, the farm work done across this planet of ours, is largely done by undocumented immigrants.

I petitioned asking for a poster featuring the tushes of all the actors from this series.   They responded with a big 'maybe'.

I said 'No ifs!  Andor butts!'

Episodes 4-6 didn't have the immediate payoff I thought we might see at the end of episode 6.  This is interesting to me because we take another one year time jump at the beginning of episode 7.

The heist sequence misses the grandeur of Aldahni.  For the first time in the series, the beat of this whole sequence felt very rushed and very predictable.

I assume Luthen set up the Bix/Cassian concluding scene but that felt out of place, too.  Imagine consequences from that event will have major ramifications for other characters and more immediate action closer to Coruscant.

I know it was filmed awhile back but the political overtones are punching you in the face.  At some point, this show will make some people angry at what it's saying

The pacing is much different this season. A lot more has to happen in very little time.

*****Spoilers below*******

The final scene of Episode 6 could have been an entire arc of its own. Felt a bit rushed, but upon review there were a few bread crumbs to set it up.

Lonnie was one of the ISB agents assigned to the Gorst case, passed the info to Luthen, and I assume the mission was assigned after the 2nd Bat signal blue light that Bix alerted Cassian to.

The scene of Kleya removing the listening device, with a room full of ISB agents, was brilliantly tense. Mon Mothma verbally sparring with Krennic was captivating. Then, a much deserved moment of levity for Luthen and Kleya at the end.

I agree with Rico, the final payoff was not what I was expecting. The Ghorman massacre and subsequent storyline must be in the next arc. Along with Mon's defection and the forming of the Rebel Alliance.

PS- Cinta's death was a gut punch.

General comment:

I prefer releasing one episode at a time, like season one did (after the first 3 episodes).

There's so much going on, that binge watching each arc is a little overwhelming. These episodes need time to breathe, to be digested. Time to rewatch episodes to pick up on all of the subtext I missed the first time. To ratchet up the suspense even more through anticipation.

Still enjoying the season, but I feel like I won't truly appreciate it until I have time to rewatch everything.

I am back and forth, I kinda like the 3 episode approach.  Never a huge fan of dumping the entire season at once, and 1/x week almost requires a rewatch before the next episode drops.

That said, I don't sit down and watch all 3 at once.  Usually do one Tuesday night, one Wed AM, and the last Wednesday night or Thursday AM.

You're not forced to watch all 3 at the same time. You could easily do your own release schedule.

My personal schedule best works to watch two Wed morning and one Wed afternoon. Not ideal, but it is what it is.

Plus, it's hard to avoid spoilers. I ate lunch between EP 2 and 3, went online for like 2 seconds, and the first thing I saw was talking about EP 3.  So, while not ideal, I will plug through it for now, and soak it more in on rewatches.
