 Bump.

Here's to you, Patrick.

Ronda and I texted earlier this month. Rest assured, we both agreed, ND still sucks.

Rest easy brother. The UB has your back.

RIP, BD. He never brought weak tea to the board.

RIP.  Always great insider knowledge that I appreciated.

I was patiently waiting for the Quentin Grimes story, but I don't think I ever saw or heard it anywhere.

RIP Big Daddy.

And yes - Ditto! Had been patiently waiting for it.

Here's to our MU and UB brother.

I was just reading old PM's from BD over the weekend and was thinking I had wished I had met him in person. He sure sounded like he was a wonderful man.

He would have been a fine MS add.

Really sorry to hear this. He was a great source of Marquette info, and from my limited crossover with him--a really nice person. He seemed to notice the small things, from a random pm sending condolences to giving me hole in the wall suggestions for a good spot to eat in the middle of coastal Alabama (named Big Daddy's...), he gave this board a nice community feel.

Missed his presence for a while now on Scoop. He will be greatly missed.

For someone I didn't even meet face-to-face, this one still hits a bit hard (admittedly already in a weird place as the 19th was also my mom's bday). I probably can't say any better than what I already said above, but what a heck of a guy who cared a lot about Marquette and the people that loved it, even if you were a complete stranger.

Also, including the link to Big Daddy's Grill in Fairhope he told me about--if you ever get down there, the fried crab claws are damn good. Still haven't figured out the connection outside of his screename, but always thought there was something there https://www.bigdaddysgrill.net/
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

It's been 4 years.  Hoisting one to Pat.

I cannot believe it four years. He is missed on here and enjoy that cocktail.

Wow I cant believe I never saw this thread before.

I grew up going to school with the oldest of Pats four adopted sons.  We were good friends and played a lot of basketball together.  Pat and my dad (also a MU alum, the reason im a fan, RIP) would always talk MU hoops whenever they were together.  I knew he was a die hard fan, I cant believe I never put it together years later that Pat and Big Daddy may be the same person.

Pat was always a favorite of everyone I grew up with.  And he sure always knew the best spot for a postgame meal no matter what city our team had a travel ball tournament at!

Have you caught up on how the 4 sons are doing?

Several of them took it very hard.

marqfan22

What were some of his best scoops that he shared and what was his connection to the team?

real chili 83

Donor, endowed athletic scholarship.  Knew Buzz well, stayed connected to others in the program, which were part of his pipleline.  Won't name his sources though...

He always had good dope on recruits and what was going on with the team.

His oldest was a ballboy in the Buzz era.

His folks were long time MU supporters.  Room named after them in the AL.  Very genuine and humble people...knew them first hand.

YoungMUFan4

He had a story on the Quentin Grimes recruitment that I don't think we ever heard.

If I remember correctly, he was saving it for when Grimes left college.

Yes, and he normally got news on the big recruits committing. He gave us hints about what happened with Grimes. An all around decent man that would go out of his way to help anyone.
