Big Daddy, Pat McComis.

I knew Pat, his parents, and family from frosh year.  Our parents were friends too.

Pat was a rable rouser, extrodinare. The sh1t he gave Flo, the dorm Czar at Schroeder was epic.

Pat and his parents loved Marquette. Ann and Chuck donated to the Al, and Pat has an endowed athletic scholarship to honor his mom and dad.

Beyond that, Pat and his parents were incredible regular people.  His dad flew a Dauntless at the battle of Midway.  He also earned decorations for his part in Taffy 3. Look it up.

Pat, for his part, raised a family, then adopted 4 brothers from inner city Milwaukee, and made them his sons.  Outstanding young men.

My heart goes out to his bride, Ronda.  Ronda and Pat, that’s a story for another day!

Sorry if my spelling and grammar is is off, just a little weepy right now.  I’m hopeful Pat saw my last text to him last week....a picture of a Marquette Special with cheese and onions.   No sh1t.

Pat was an important part of the Underboard. The UB misses you Pat!

RIP, say hi Al and Blondie for me.

Thanks Jeff. I met him on a Zoom call and he’s an incredible man. His commitment to things that make Marquette well Marquette, will be his lasting monument.

BD was quite a guy.

Thank you so much for posting this, rc83. It's nice to get to "know" BD a little through a great friend like you. Sounds like a wonderful guy who will be missed very much.

Didn't know him but was glancing thru post history.  Found this one from 2017 which seems fitting to put here.  Sounds like good company.  Condolences to those who lost a friend.

Golden,  my Mom's last night on earth was spent at a MU game.  Which they won.  I am sure our Mom's were cheering together tonight and  my Dad and Al were swearing until the last few minutes:)

Just got chills.  His post was in response to mine (my mother had just passed away earlier that week, right before we upset Villanova at home).

Very sorry to hear about the passing of BD.  I never got to meet him or speak to him in person, but it was clear he was a dearly respected and valued member of our Scoop and MU community.  May he rest in peace, and God watch over all of his loved ones.  Cheers to BD for what sounds like an incredibly impactful life, and hope he gets to watch all MU games with his parents, Al and other friends and family upstairs.

He gratiously acknowledged to me once in a private message (after I called him out) that he was wrong about Jimmy Butler as a freshmen--didn't think he would be much of a player.  I always thought perhaps BD was John Ellenson.  Glad I was wrong.

Funny, until a couple of years ago, I thought he might be John Cyganiak (aka Big Papa), until I had found out differently, hey?

There are a lot of former posters here, BD among the best. But we're all still MU family.  Good evening all.

Hope you stick around.

Got to know him a little on the underboard the last year or so. Really genuine and caring soul. We lost a really good one today.

What is the underboard?

He was a valuable poster here, but I didn't know him beyond his insightful posts.  He was missed over the last couple of years.  Sorry for the loss for everyone here that knew him and loved him.  RIP BigDaddy.

I did not know the man but now wish I had after reading the few tributes here. Thank you to those who knew him personally for letting the rest of us get a glimpse of the man. Not sure I ever looked forward to anyone else's posts as BD. May he rest in peace.

Ha,  I know Big Papa’s son Jon very well.  Great family.
