Congratulations to Sam on an overall Excellent Season with The Celts.

Played  22 minutes per game and started in 13 games. Scored 9.5 PPG 3.5 Rebounds and 1 Assist per game. Shot 42.4 % from 3. 89.5 % From the Line.

His coaches frequently stated how they were pleased with Sam's defense.

For advanced stats folks. Sam was 8th in the league in Offensive Rating. 8th in the League in Defensive Rating. Sam was 1st in the NBA in NET Rating with 14.2

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/advanced-leaders

The Celtics have an option on Sam's services next season at the NBA minimum. The question is will The Celtics decline their  option, and instead  negotiate a  longer term contract  with Sam. This is the tactic they took after Sams rookie season when it appeared he had promise.

Given how NBA salaries can get wacky, it’s probably unfortunate for Sam that he’s under contract for next season. He might have been able to make double that or more.

gotcha-thanks!  ya'd think the NBA could find it in them to round up at least...$2, 092,354?  another $7646 and the accountants job would be a little easier, eyn'a?

Sam 1/2 with two points and a minus 10 in nine minutes in Celtics blowout loss. Have to think he hasn’t shaken the late season wojo swoons from his brain.

But he was locking down Donovan Mitchell.

This is grown-up basketball time.

I'm genuinely glad for Sam that he was able to parlay an elite skill into an NBA contract, but a player of his limited all-around skillset can't get much of a run in May and June for a serious contender (barring injuries or foul trouble to others).

Sam understands his playoff role very well. He is the 7th or 8th man in rotation. His job is to not screw up while Tatum and Company are getting a rest. Sam is doing a solid job in that role , which is why the coaches trust him. In fact in the Celtics big win his plus minus was the highest on the team and in the loss he had one of the best plus minus for rotation players on the team.

His regular season role is more expansive because there are more minutes he needs to absorb.  As such he has games where he puts up a lot of production in a short period of time.
