TAMU, Knower of Ball

I'm seeing a few talking heads say that given the most recent results, Nevada can be called for Biden.

This presents an interesting dilemma for Fox News and the AP. Both called the Arizona election early but it seems like that may have been premature. Nevada looks a lot more secure than Arizona does at the moment....but if they call Nevada, they would have to either uncall Arizona or call the election for Biden. My guess is that they just drag their feet on calling Nevada until either Pennsylvania or Georgia get called for Biden, or Arizona gets deeper into their count with Biden still ahead.

Trump's suit in Georgia thrown out.  Which lead to this fun tweet.

the only problems with trump's suit, according to the judge, is that it was based on hearsay, brought the wrong party to court,  couldn't give names of any of the ppl or locations they said broke the law and the relief sought is unavailable because the counting is over."

The Trump family is now calling on GOP-controlled state legislatures to nullify the actual vote and push for Trump electors. This is a dangerous moment.

I'm no election law specialist, but as I understand it, that's not how electors work.  If a state votes R, republican electors are used, if a state votes D, democrat electors are used:

my sister is a now-former teacher (taking this year off due to COVID) and her kids are unable to go back to school. She asked my parents why were so gung ho about Trump (my mom flew a flag) and the answers they had were "look at our retirement" and "no more political correctness." My dad lectured my 16-year-old nephew as to why he needed to take down "in this house..." sign my sister put up. Socialism was also brought up. Granted, this is just anecdotal evidence of one couple, but these are retired, highly educated, and successful suburbanites. They occasionally go to a nondenominational church, are pro-choice having worked in the medical field but are full time Fox News viewers and listen to Limbaugh and local right wing radio.

I don't think they are that far off from many Trump voters.

Because it's a cult and until they get help on understanding the depth of their brainwash they know not what they spew.
A good place to start is explain socialism to them and how wrong they are at what they call socialism isn't remotely.

Yes.  By federal law, the electors have already been chosen.  Here are Georgia's.  This is just another example of how people THINK they understand how the Constitution works, but they really don't.

A good way to start this is to ask them how they feel about the New Deal and go from there.

Very true :-).

But my point in bringing this out is that he has a sizeable constituency, not all of whom are deplorables.

You're right of course, to some on the left if you're willing to overlook what trump says, the supports he caters to, and things he has done (especially before president) then you're as bad as the worst of them. Obviously on the same note not every democrat is a corrupt socialist or communist union boss bought out by the mob who moonlights as an Antifa member but, there's even members on this board who think if you lean left you are exactly that. So again it's not just us making trump supporter associations

Facts don't matter, not so long as they continue to watch and listen to Fox and Limbaugh.

I've tried!  My mom is full on in the cult. The last time I was home I overheard my dad telling some friends about AOC because Fox pushes the hell out her as a scare tactic. I just stay away from them now (a 5 hour flight away is a positive).

The thing that gets me about my mom is that her dad worked for Eisenhower, who would be a raging socialist in Trump's GOP. Even when you correct her she doesn't care. She started going off on the KKK being "Democrat" and I brought up realignment and her response was "the kid knows too much." She started ripping immigrants and my wife, an anchor baby daughter of immigrants, snapped back at her and there was no response. My dad is much more highly educated (M.D.) so he doesn't get into the social issues, it's all "stock market and taxes."

They just don't want to know facts outside of their own version of facts.

That's a matter of opinion. Trump is proving the past couple of days he has no interest in democracy and he's been telegraphing it all year. You still support him for any reason you're deplorable to me because at the very best you're complicit.

Try reframing the argument.  Facts won't convince people.  For a lot of people, you have to personalize it.  Involving your wife, and her family's story would be important.  You can't yank them over to your side, you have to change their hearts first then their minds will come along eventually.

So apparently this court order holding up the ballots in Pittsburgh isn't recent.  They have to be segregated because they were sent the voters in question were sent the wrong ballot.  I think the implication is they are definitely going to be counted.

According to Pennsylvania Sec of State:

About 550K ballots remain. Most should be counted today.
About 100K are in Philly, with another 10-40K in each of the collar counties.
About 37K in Alleghany County.

Because of legal challenges, late-arriving ballots are being segregated in the event they're thrown out. But based on trends, they're not expecting those ballots to decide the race either way.

Is that including ballots arriving late, their dashboard says only 360k votes still to be counted.
