I don't think it was a 5 year extension. His contract wasn't up last year. I think he got a new 5 year contract that extended him 2 years.

I think you are correct. Wasn't trying to misrepresent.

Yes, an 8 to 10 year contract and/or a significant raise. He basically got a cost of living increase. MU will have to decide on his future in the next year or two.

I don't think there are very many college coaches out there who have an 8-10 year contract.

I'd guess you're correct. Marquette, like most schools, doesn't want to be locked into a coach that hasn't proven themselves and want to be able to fire a coach if needed without major financial consequences.

I saw this thread staying up near the top of the list and wondered what new info re: Carton was driving continued discussion of his transfer, that we got to 10 pages of comments.

Silly me, I should have realized that that GD Wojo inserts himself into every GD thread. When, oh when, will he stop?

I know that Calipari, Self, Williams are working under 10-year contracts. Larry Krystkowiak signed an 8-year deal in 2015 but has not gotten an extension since. Ohio State gave Holtmann 8 years to get him to leave Butler. Izzo has a "7-year rolling contract." Texas signed Shaka to a 7-year deal when he was the hottest coach on the market and added another year after they somehow were fooled into thinking that his 20-13 showing with Barnes' players (he went 11-22 the next year). Barnes signed a 6-year deal with Tennessee in 2015 and got an "amended 5-year contract" in 2019 paying him a lot more money.

Among those with contracts of similar length to Wojo's: Sean Miller, Bobby Hurley, Mark Fox, Bob Huggins.

Indiana gave Archie Miller a 7-year deal in 2017 and haven't extended it since -- so I guess they didn't make a "significant effort" to lock him up.

Am I missing some coaches whose schools have given them 8-10 year contracts in one sitting?

You maybe right. MU also could have given Wojo a big raise to help keep him. The bigger point is MU has smartly given themselves an affordable out after next season.

I hope he earns a big raise and a longer contract.

Thats because there are very few out there that have the NCAA successes and end of season surges that Wojo has had.

...Wojo doesn't have an 8-10 year contract either. Take your face out of the Mazos burger and try to keep up.

Keeping way ahead of you with both hands tied behind my back. No problem.

That Mazos burger must be a mess to eat without use of your hands. Good on you.
