At least 2 more years. Maybe 3.

He has 4 years left on his contract, right brew?

So I could see maybe they let it get down to 3 left and bring him back for 2021-22, even though that would make it fairly easy for other coaches to negatively recruit against him. I absolutely can't see bringing him back for 2022-23 without a contract extension, though. I'm surprised you can.

Coaching contract lengths no matta. It's all in the details. Can be handled in conversations.

It's less about the extension and more about my belief that Marquette won't fire Wojo before 2023. Virtually no chance before 2022, barring major scandal.

This could be true but recruiting will fall off big time.

Why's that? It hasn't so far. We had the collapse last year and brought in three top-100s including a McDonald's All-American. We collapsed again and brought in the top transfer in the country.

Recruiting isn't the problem. Results are. Does it maybe take a hit in 2 years if there's no extension? Maybe, but by that time admin will be committed to year 3.

You might be right. But I hope we have a big 2020-21 season and Wojo is given a nice extension because he has earned it.

Just like people said recruiting will fall off after the Hausers left. How was that prediction? And I hope the 21 class is pretty weak. That means this years' incoming players and Symir and Dexter played really well and there's not an opportunity for players to come in and contribute.

Exactly. Great kid on and off the court. Too bad some entitled fans had their expectations too high.

Agreed.  Mentioned this elsewhere last year, but I met Joe in a setting that wasn't expected, and he couldn't have been a nicer guy.  Gave me the time of day and was incredibly friendly.  I don't think his senior year worked out how anyone hoped (including him), but the kid gave it his all, and is/was a touch notch representative of the university.  Absolutely no reason to bad mouth him.

Give me a break. I saw that video right after it was shared. He is definitely a nice guy. Was being facetious. Anyone can acknowledge Chartouny seems to be a great guy with a forgettable (or memorable for the wrong reasons) year at MU. That quote in the tweet was like DJ is following one of Marquette's greats.

Wojo and his staff and players have been nothing but class off the court. MU and most fans, if I may make an assumption, have been disappointed with the game results. MU has not made a significant effort to lock up Wojo for a reason.

What is the definition of a "significant effort to lock up Wojo"? Not being facetious. Serious question.

I mean, they just extended his contract through 2024 and gave him a raise, didn't they? Is a "significant effort" now an 8-year contract or something?

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

🏀

Between keefe, shitting on Chartouney, and now Wojo's contract way to take hot steaming dump on this thread.

Yes, an 8 to 10 year contract and/or a significant raise. He basically got a cost of living increase. MU will have to decide on his future in the next year or two.

OK, thanks for the answer. I think a 5-year extension and raise is pretty significant, but it's OK that you don't.

And I agree that our Marquette leaders have to decide on Wojo's future in the next year or two.

I don't think it was a 5 year extension. His contract wasn't up last year. I think he got a new 5 year contract that extended him 2 years.
