That goes against absolutely everything I've heard about Wojo.
That goes against everything you have heard about Wojo from a certain subset of scoop posters.

True.

You got to get dominant players to compete in the BE. Wojo's doing that. Now let's win.

True.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with his recruiting or really nearly anything except his actual coaching ability.  Thrilled we got Carton and a lot of good recruits coming in, but we've had less success than I would have expected with our recruits during his tenure, and two straight late season collapses when other teams are peaking is what I'm worried about.  Still hope we land Mane of course.  I think I'm in the "I hope our talent makes up for his coaching" crowd.
Those could have been guests at her wedding.

I agree...it's one thing to get the players but another thing to be able to effectively execute the x's & o's. I'm tired of beating up Coach Woj but he hasn't proven me wrong. Please do as I'd love nothing more.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

Am I the only one that finds that photoshop a little odd?  I get the put the kid in the MU Jersey photoshop.  But adding the coach with his arm around him?

They should have reduced Wojo's chin a little.

Yes, you are the only one.

Geez.

Obviously just a photo with Markus and a head swap. DJ is hoping to get the same love and affection Howard did.

OK gang, when the 2019-2020 season started, most of us in here believed Coach Wojo had two jobs:

  1) Recruit for 2020-2021 and beyond.
  2) Get back in the NCAA tournament and win at least one game.

By all measures, Coach Wojo did the first one in spades. DJ Carton and, hopefully, Karim Mane, will be the topping on a very good class. Coach Wojo has a dynamic young team with loads of raw talent. He also has depth he didn't have before. His legacy at MU will be defined by what he does in the next two to three years with this group, which, by all measures, is the most talented group of recruits we have had in some time.

We would have been back in the NCAA had there been one. While I wasn't optimistic about more than one win, it certainly met the criteria that most in Scoop had expected for this year's team.

If Wojo is half the coach we thought he would be when he came to MU, we're in for quite a ride in the next few years. At this point, coaching up is everything, as is sustaining Marquette's recruiting success.

Yep, the season ended on a wimper with Sacar and BB pulling Houdinis, but until that point it had been a really great season led by tge all time story of Markus Howard.  The recruiting was as good or better than yone could have possibly expected.

So I can't get this article.  Does it say anything about immediate eligibility?

sorry.  guess it is a subscriber only.
Wojo says they believe he is a strong candidate for the waiver, "but we don't make that decision" or wording to that effect.  Also mentions pending potential rule change.  Says he thinks DJ will fit well with Koby, Sy, etc.
Bailey discussion at the end.  Just they are supportive.

Alright cool.  Thanks.

Nice offseason article.  Good to have Steele back after his short furlough.  Think both Carton if he's eligible and Bailey will both be fun to watch next year for the Warriors.

I would not say Marquette basketball has been accretive to my mental health

You are sure you're not talking about MuScoop?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I like the optimism, and agree with most of it. He has recruited superbly, and he has made the NCAAs 3 out of 4 years. Not bad. Still, the end of the season - for the second season in a row - was very difficult to watch.

I sure would like to see something this season coming up rather than talking about the next 2-3 years, though. Because after this season, MU poobahs likely are going to have to decide to either extend Wojo's contract again or kick him to the curb. Maybe they could get through 2 more years before having to make that call, but probably not the way big-time college sports work.

At least 2 more years. Maybe 3.
