That’s great but what would be a game changer is that they freely share that with other labs to produce enough to test enough people to make a significant impact.
A la Jonas Salk.

50,000 tests a day is significant. Further, it runs on their proprietary testing platform.

Illinois gov stated they need 10,000 test a day alone.
And I have seen reports where initially it may only be 1,000 a day.
To beat this thing, we will need far more than they can produce.

Agreed, which is why we need as many tests as possible from as many different companies as possible.

Doesn't mean 50,000 a day isn't significant.

Bear hunts here in Rochester for kids out on walks with their families:

https://www.mprnews.org/story/2020/03/30/daily-dose-of-sweetness-familyfriendly-bear-hunts-unite-rochester

And we are doing a neighborhood "block party" sort of thing this evening, where people are encouraged to set up lawn chairs in front of their houses, and/or walk through the neighborhood to say hello to the neighbors...all at a safe distance, of course. I plan to sit on my front porch (well more than 6 feet from the sidewalk) and chat with whomever walks by....

Dearborn Denim - a Chicago-based manufacturer of blue jeans - is also making masks, and offering them free to medical personnel.

As an aside, they also make really nice jeans right in Chicago. More expensive than brands made elsewhere, but a lot more reasonable than other made in USA jeans I've seen. Just ordered a couple of pairs the other day.

Please do not take this as an endorsement of anything NE Patriot or Robert Kraft.  ;D

New England Patriots Plane Bringing 1.2M Masks From China
https://patch.com/massachusetts/marlborough/new-england-patriots-plane-retrieve-1-2m-masks-china

The New England Patriots' private plane is delivering more than 1 million sorely needed masks from China, the Wall Street Journal first reported.

The team plan is set to land at Boston's Logan Airport Thursday with 1.2 million N95 masks. There are another 500,000 masks set for another delivery, but the plane could only handle 1.2 million.

Team owner Robert Kraft and his family paid $2 million, about half the cost, for the masks, which are a crucial piece of personal protection equipment needed on the front lines in the fight against the coronavirus.

Great that he is doing this, ..... but why does be need to. Why isn’t our crack task force doing it?

Or, similarly, does this mean he is bidding up against organizations in this country that are trying to obtain them? Thereby raising costs for the needy

A potential new option to fight the virus.  In the lab, stops virus in 48hours and already a safe drug for humans.  Essentially the same drug used on dogs called Heartgard.

I'm going to hazard a guess than along with reduced air pollution, traffic fatalities are way, way down.

Two kids I coached in middle school, who are now HS juniors, have started a non-profit organization to aid in the coronavirus fight in the Charlotte area. On their first day, they raised over $1,000. Very proud of them!

One of my umpiring colleagues has been in the hospital ICU for several days now, but his daughter said this morning that he has progressed to the point where he no longer needs the ventilator. (She did say that "he's still out of it," though.)

That is amazing news.  Getting off a ventilator is no small miracle!
