Really not understanding how the conferences are letting these games continue. These are useless tournaments to begin with, and with the NBA and (likely) NHL going on hiatus, it just looks wrong.

Well, on to basketball.

Lines for today.

Creighton -5.5 over St. John's
Butler -1.5 over Providence
Villanova -10 over DePaul
Seton Hall -3.5 over Marquette

Is that chart semi legit?  I just have to watch ABC or BBC or listen to NPR?

No.  That chart has its own biases like any other.  Where human beings are involved biases will exist

Hoiberg testing positive may lead to the cancellation of the B10 tournament but not necessarily the BET unless there is a BE team connection to him.

Hoiberg has the flu. He was checked before the game and cleared.

Its likely going to take a player or coach testing positive.  That may happen today, it may happen tomorrow, it may happen next week.  But I'd be shocked if we got to April 6th without a player testing positive.

I am selfishly okay with play continuing, and hope they get everything in.  But the odds just seem so long after yesterday.

Frankly, I am not sure sending all these kids back to their college campuses or even home to their parents solves a whole lot either.  If any are infected, they're likely going from heavier populated area, to less populated areas (if heading home), so it could just spread the virus quicker.  At this point, these games and arenas are going to be so contained, that frankly it may be the safest place for them.  But obviously the games don't go on forever.

Very strange times.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Yah, obviously if he tested positive, it would have all been over.

The Jazz were at MSG 10 days ago. Another player tested positive and Gobert was making a joke of it before he was diagnosed by touching everything. I'd be shocked if the BET happens.

Overreaction fluffy.  Two teams playing hoops in an empty stadium has to be in the bottom 1 percentile of unhealthy activities during this situation.  Relax francis

Disagree. If a player has this virus (and at this point its unreasonable to think none do) its difficult to think of an activity more conducive to spreading it than playing competitive basketball.

Thats basically my thought as well. Ending the games, doesnt mean that all these kids are not going to be in other areas to be infected.

If done properly you could actually quaratine teams pretty well on the road and have them just focus on hoops.

The issue tho is its highly unlikely that not a single player/coach on any team is not yet infected. Theres gotta be a few.

Thankfully the pool of teams decreases by the day.  But even if say - a guy from Gtown tests positive next Tuesday - I think they still have to call everything off because he's been in contact with several teams still alive, etc.

Nope.  The best thing to do would be to get back to campus.

Tournaments are dropping like flies.

I agree with the decision to play at least one game, especially if the rule is that the auto bid goes to the team that wins the last game.  Currently that's DePaul.

Lol - that can't possibly be the ruling.

I can't believe the BE is playing. I think they're it.

What's the point with every other tournament cancelled?

Acc still going. Only semi notable conference. Bizzare.

Big Sky and Big West are on as of now.

The Sultan

ACC and Pac 12 cancelled.  BE is only one left.

Why is it unreasonable to think that no players have the virus? Even China at its peak had an infection rate of less than 1/100th of percent of the population.  Italy now is around 1/50th of a percent of the population infected. And the US has 1,200 cases out of 300 million people. Where in these rates would you find it probable that someone involved with the BET is infected?

Ur saying a player prolly has it because .00001% of the American population is positive?  Ok good math
