Wait, wut?  You think Wojo is just going to look for a new job?   That can't be what you mean.

I don't think it will end up happening but I really wouldn't be shocked. He'd get hired on by a P6 school and he'd cool his seat down a bit.

I figured this was all a hypothetical discussion if Wojo left for somewhere like Wake after this year. Cause everyone, even the most passionate NoJo, knows he’s not getting fired this year
This. And considering he apparently at least listened to VPI I think it’s very possible he moves on.

Yes. Goose alluded to this awhile back. He could set his family up for life going to another school and getting the proverbial 5 years. His clock gets reset. Easier to land a gig leaving on your own volition versus having been fired...

I had 4th row seats today (sick brag) and with about 7 min left in 2nd half I heard a fan get vocal about his displeasure with Wojo.

I have not been happy with his results and I express my displeasure here and elsewhere.  However, this guy was belligerent and personal.  He was ultimately removed as the fans around him got Security.  I have it on good authority this guy popped off to Markus’ family.

In short that is some BS.  I was bummed by the results.  However SHU is really, really talented.  They were better.  Markus’ teammates showed up a little too late.  Not a Pro-Jo but we have to keep our crap together in Public.

That is reprehensible.  I am NOT pro-Wojo, but that behavior is inexcusable and disappointing.

Maybe Marquette University should hire the Women's Coach to take over the Men's bball program after the game today.

I really think that was Wojo’s last home game as MU coach. I have zero inside information and this my gut feeling. This would be a perfect time for him to take his talents elsewhere and reset the clock. I said a month ago that if was my son I would strongly advise him to consider it.
New start, big contract and a 3-4 leash to prove himself, without putting up with entitled fans, fans that suck, a budget being strained by expensive lease at facility with poor service and all the other obstacles that come along with this job.

If you decide a move is likely necessary, this is the year to do it.  Will be part of the tourney plus any MH accolades (success). Also, he is going to rebuild wherever he is next year.

A desperate one...a perennial bottom half of conference team looking to hang their hat on a new look/face.

Exactly. That is my point. Is he willing to do that or gamble to see if he can take  MU up another step.No fun going to a Wake Forest,Northwestern or a Vanderbilt type school and lose all the time.

Think Hurley will get that gig...that is if K ever retires.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Maybe the Duke faithful force K out and make room for Woj.

I can't see a top 50 team hiring Wojo.  He has shown zero ability to get a team to that next level, i.e. top 25.

So you're looking for a top 100 team that wants to get to the top 50, which would be a decent step downward.

Wojo's got a better deal here, and since MU seems copacetic with being a 6th place Big East team.

I agree .. Wojo desperately needs to reset his clock.  If he somehow got MU to the S16 this year, he would be gone before Shining Moments was played.

My biggest gripe with Wojo has been the lack of guard prospects he has recruited in 5 or 6 years besides Markus. It is troubling that Chartouny and McEwen were the players counted on to run the team the last two years. There are a lot of guards in the Country and that is what MU ends up with. That is totally unacceptable and should never happen.

Will the admin remain copacetic if big $ donors complain more.  If there are more fire wojo signs on campus, if the boos continue next year or get louder, or if fans yell at the family of one of the greatest players MU has ever had and are escorted out by police?
They may find it in everyone's best interest to see what is out there....including the coach.

Goose, I had a similar feeling. Yesterday felt like a tipping point.

And the second part of this post got a good chuckle out of me. Well done.

I’d say Wojo being our coach next year is probably 50/50 at this point.  This is starting to feel very much like Buzz’s last month and a half at MU.  We’re recognizing it because we’ve seen it before.  I can’t put my finger on it, but his body language, energy, and behavior in press conferences just makes it seem like he’s no longer “all in” on the job.

There was some renewed energy for the program when Garcia signed, but with the way the season has played out and last year’s awful collapse followed by Hausershima, I think he’s finally realized that he won’t be able to win at a high level here.  He’s not a bad guy, he was just never the right fit for this job.  The most successful coaches here have been renegades with chips on their shoulders, and Wojo ain’t that.  And that’s probably what it takes to win big at Marquette.

Perhaps the poster who stated Mane isn’t coming is on to something, Mane May know Wojo is leaving. I agree that Wojo’s demeanor recently would at least suggest something is up and mentioned it in another thread yesterday...very Buzzish which all made sense in retrospect...checked out.

You suggesting he would tell high school recruits that hes leaving? he tells them but no one else? who would trust them anyway. News could leak easily
