I remember posting, and many others did as well, at the beginning of the conference season that I would take 10-8 and a tournament berth in a heart beat if it could be done.  This was based off of the nonconference performance of MU and the rest of the teams.  We still have a chance to do that.

That is not the team everyone hoped for immediately after last season when the Hausers were still here but still thought to be fairly decent with the talent remaining.  If Wojo does this he has met expectations. We all got greedy for more after winning 6 of 7 in the middle of our conference slate.  But reality has set in and that’s ok for now. If we take care of business, 10-8 and a tournament appearance is still possible.  Try to have some perspective on the entire season. This team isn’t loaded with talent and we are still very competitive.  Let it play out.  Plenty of time to cheer or moan soon enough.

Sure, if we end of 10-8 that's fine, a bit meh, but that's tourney and a 6 or 7 seed which has us in place for a NCAA win.

The point of the poll is that I (and apparently 60% + others) are more than a bit concerned this team isn't going to get to 10-8 (or even 9-9). I don't know what team that was that played Providence, but if it keeps showing up were in trouble.

Agreed.  Can’t play like we did against Providence again this year or we don’t have a shot at 10-8.  That has to be one of those games that we chalk up to a bad matchup and a brain fart.  Wednesday we will know if things look bleak or a little more rosey.  Hoping like hell we have some momentum going into Senior day.

I'm not ready to accept that we are in a late season collapse just yet,

Losing at Nova by 1 didn't bother me (though that game wasn't really that close, we never really had a chance to win).  Losing to Creighton was understandable.  They are simply a level above us right now.  Don't like it, but understandable.  Losing at Providence is also understandable.  They were at home and we are not head and shoulders better than them and they were playing a must win game if they want an at-large.  But the way we were not ready to go from jump at Providence right after having lost two in a row is very tough to understand.

I really think this team needs one of those games where we jump on our opponent, get up double digits early and have the game well in hand throughout but continue to play focused and well anyway.  I am strangely confident that tomorrow night is going to be that game.  I also think we'll pay well over the weekend against SH.  If we do both of those things, I also have a feeling we're going to slip up in one of our last two.

LOL....that is one poll....there was a second, plus an entirely new thread, plus other threads, fire Wojo threads, etc, etc....but you continue to link it to one poll with a small sample size in which MANY didn’t even vote and ignore all the others.  LOL

You said 95.9% predicted...that is false.  That’s why I said it.  False, absolutely false.  If you want to say in a small poll what some said...sure...but that’s not what you said.  Again, it was false...absolutely false.  You are welcome.

What’s more you say....well this.  https://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=58556.0

We had this thread where peoplE freelanced their choices...did you go through each one?  We had another thread that asked for people to pick a range of wins.  We then had another thread after the season started if people wanted to reevaluate.  So which one Lenny?  Shall I go on?  You are welcome.

The last post in your link is from July. Old news, and not a predictive poll. The poll on this season (referred to by me) was taken in late October just before the start of the season. It’s the ONLY Scoop preseason prediction poll for 2019-20. You’re full of it, clutching at straws, making sh!t up - it’s what you do. But by all means, go on. Hang yourself further, make up more stuff, keep moving the goal posts, all the things you can’t help yourself from doing. LOL

Your own poll reading shows how silly this is.  60%+ a bit concerned....sure...but what does that mean.  Hell, I get concerned every game we play regardless of who the coach is, but that doesn’t mean at the same time I expect a collapse.  Your options are so broad in interpretation....I’m surprised concerned wasn’t higher....if we had won 10 straight I would vote concerned and others wouldn’t.

Are you aware Providence beat Creighton at PC by nearly 20 two weeks ago?  They are a good team at the Dunk especially of late.

Curious cheeks,  since the last three teams we’ve lost to have been trending up, what would you say IF we lost to Georgetown tomorrow?

It would not be good...I know you think we are going to lose.  I look at our losses, where they took place and good those teams are and can justify all of them.  That’s what happens in a great league...no one is spared.  Losing at home to Georgetown would be a bad loss.  I think we win.  In my view people are totally ignoring who we lost to, where we lost and how well those teams are playing at the moment.

I agree with your take.  I also thought the last three teams were going to be difficult.  I do think we will be on the wrong end of the stick tomorrow.  Obviously, I do not want that to happen, just have a bad feeling.

Whatever the reason, Marquette has sh1t the bed with the season on the line in each of the past two years.

Regardless of specifics, this is squarely on the coach's head.

You want $2 MM a year? Then earn it. My wallet is welded shut while the current coach is at the helm.

Memories of last year are definitely giving me more concern than this stretch typically would in a vacuum. Losing at Nova by 1? Sure it's a loss but as losses go, that's as good as they get. Losing to Creighton at home? Not good by any stretch, but my vibe in that game was more about Creighton playing extremely well than us playing poorly.

This last loss gave me a lot more concern. It could be recency bias, but I truly felt like that was our worst played game of the year other than maybe Robert Morris. Besides a short three minute window where we cut the lead to single digits (and then got derailed by one unlucky bounce) and garbage time we looked completely outmatched the whole game. I am a big believer that every team has a floor and every team has a ceiling and on any given night you could play anywhere between those two points. But games near the floor should be happening in the non-conference and early conference play, not this late in the season. The fact that we've started playing near our floor in the final games, two seasons in a row is very concerning.

All that being said, while it shouldn't be happening, it does, and not just to Marquette. Sometimes good teams have an absolute turd of game in the final games of the regular season. Some use it to motivate them, some let it define them. Wojo let it be the latter next season. Let's see if he can make it the former this season.

Yes all seasons come to an end

Some far sooner than others.

Unfortunately, for the past six years, Marquette's has ended painfully early.

I sense yet another butt jam headed our way.

The three losses, looked at individually, are understandable. But when you factor in that MU led for less than 4 of the 120 total minutes, that gives me some angst.

It's one thing to lose a few tight games but it's another to be uncompetitive.

I am concerned, but we were dogs in 2/3 games and the other game was against the hottest team in the nation.  No excuses - we still mostly sucked in those games and its concerning, but its not like all three were games we were supposed to win.

Georgetown is not a must in the sense that if they lose, they're going to miss the tournament.  But I could see the argument that its a win the program really needs to stop the bleeding and get trending back in the right direction for March.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

People would bitch a fit either way.  Creighton got SMOKED at Providence a few weeks ago.  We SMOKED Villanova at home.  Etc etc.

Okay so it matters when you play someone, where you play them etc...then explain to me the loss at home to Providence when they were playing like the garbage team they have been most of the year?? Using your "it matters where, when etc you play them", and using no other basis. I will hang up and listen for your answer.

How did those teams respond to those losses? Creighton rattled off 5 in a row and Nova 7 in a row.

That's the difference.
