He won't.

His details will be different, yes. But he told the writers for the show where all the characters will end up and wanted them in those same places in the book and show

This is my hope too. I've been reading ASOIAF since college and the books went downhill after Storm of Swords. Everyone is giving GRRM the benefit of the doubt but, honestly, the show told his story better than he was ever able to write it. His books are slogs. Hopefully we'll see. Or he'll die before the series is finished.

Speaking of, I'm looking forward to Robert Jordan's A Wheel of Time on Prime whenever it starts. Looks like filming got waylayed by the pandemic, though.

Racist xenophobe.
I may be wrong, because I only vaguely remember the movie (and I did not like it), but in my recollection he spent a lot of time making fun of white America in the first Borat movie, too.  I won't be watching the second one, but only because I don't find him funny.  Doesn't mean he isn't, just that his sense of humor and mine do not mesh.

My personal opinion is that comedy should be exempt from political correctness in all its forms.  In most cases when horrible things are said about a race or nationality, they are intentionally making fun of the point of view of the espouser and his ilk, rather than literally making fun of the target.

Racist xenophobe.

I'm not a fan, but that's not an example of racism or xenophobia.  It's more an example of fraud.

After the last four years, I know how you can mix the three of them up though.

Just finally watched the entire series.  Season 8 was so, so bad.  Good thing is, GRRM will have a different story, if his fat ass ever finishes the last 2 books.

It's kind of a bummer because it's a show that I've wanted to watch for years, and I've really enjoyed it. But there's been a sense of dread knowing that the final season was universally panned and must really suck. At this point, I feel like I have to finish.

So you enjoy racist, xenophobic "comedy", and the exploitation of people from other countries ao that Westerns can laugh at them?  Good to know that you hate.  Racist.

It is interesting to see that you don't understand the point of the movie.

The journey will be very different, and that is what matters.  There wasn't problems with the ending, it was how it was slapped together unintelligibly that mattered most.

Agreed.

IMO, I didn't like where the characters ended up regardless of the story/journey to get there. Maybe that was the result of the shitty writing of the HBO guys.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I hated the ending to the "northern" storyline. I loved the ending of the "southern" storyline. I hated the execution of both. Hopefully Martin does a better job in the books (assuming they ever happen).

100% agree. Pretty sure Ziggy does too and is lust busting some chops. Like you, I find Sasha Baron Cohen objectionable because his is decidedly unfunny. But the people
/ideas he's lampooning aren't above being mocked. Nobody/nothing is.

I agree.

Both Borat movies were more like skit comedies. You put up with 90% of the blah for the 10% that is really funny.

Finally started Community and finished season one. Definitely hits its stride about halfway through the season.

Just finished it last night. Very good.

Started S2 of Mandalorian today. Not sure what was more of a shock factor, Timothy Olyphant's armor or the reveal at the end of the show.

There has been a lot of talk here about bad final seasons for many shows. Off the top of my head, I think of Dexter and GoT. True Blood was another - except it was the final couple of seasons that lost their way.

But give credit where it is due. The final season of Homeland is as good of a final season as I have seen for a show.. I also just finished re-watching The Shield and the final season there was outstanding as well.

Same with Six Feet Under and the Wire. The final seasons were brilliant.

Up until the very last episode so was Silicon Valley. Unfortunately the finale left a horrible aftertaste.

Breaking Bad.

And I thought the finale for Silicon Valley was rather creative.
Have some patience, FFS.

ChitownSpaceForRent

The good place ended about as perfectly as it could of for a show like that

wadesworld

I thought the entire last season of Silicon Valley was very "meh." Same with the last season of The Wire. To me the last seasons of each of those were by far the worst in the series.
