Big East remains the only conference with no league games in Q3 or Q4.
Need to root (a little bit) for DePaul and GTown in order to maintain that, though.

Talked about a flawed Metric...Duke loses last night to an 11-15 Wake Forest team on the road...and don't move a spot in the NET. How exactly does that happen??

Remember, we don't know the gap between spots.  Duke is still 6th but their lead over 7th likely shrunk.

Yes but still, I mean we have seen teams make 10+ spot jumps with one win..we have seen teams slide a handful of spots for losses and those have been against respectable teams. To lose @ Wake Forest and not move a spot?? C'mon!

Does anyone know whether for NET calculations an OT is different than a regulation loss?  For example, the formula could count all losses in OT as a "one point" loss even if eventually losing by 10.

Statistically speaking, this makes total sense.  A bellcurve would breakdown like this:

Group 1
Teams 1 to 8

Group 2
Teams 9 to 56

Group 3
Teams 57 to 176

Group 4
Teams 177 to 297

Group 5
Teams 298 to 345

Group 6
Teams 346 to 353

The more teams in a group, the more data points bunched closely together.  Groups 3 and 4 would experience the most volatility in Net rankings when Net raw score changes. Groups 1 and 6 would have the least volatility.

They blow out mediocre but not bad competition.  Makes their efficiency numbers look good.

Arizona has played 0 sub-300 NET teams. They have also only played 4 teams whose NET is between 165 and 300:

#298 Long Beach State (won by 37)
#284 San Jose State (won by 48)
#219 Omaha (won by 50)
#212 Northern Arizona (won by 39)

Playing teams in that range, you would expect Arizona to win by 20-30 points, when they win by 37-50, NET rewards them significantly. Now it's not actually about margin of victory because NET caps that at 10, but typically the larger the margin of victory, the better your efficiency numbers which there is currently no cap on. This is why you see Laval Jordan fouling down 20, Wojo calling a timeout with 15 seconds left in a blowout, Partick Ewing calling for a last second three, etc. Every point theoretically matters.

Good news is, it seems like the selection committee is able to see through inflated NETs. Last year, NC State was left out of the tournament despite at top 35 NET. This year, Arizona is being projected in the 6/7 seed range despite an NET that would suggest a 3 seed.

Big winning margins, small losing margins. Their average margin of victory in Q4 games is insane, but they also have numerous top-100 blowouts by 20+. Their losses are also mostly close, with 7/9 by single digits.
