I tend to get grief when I've posted about the women's team on the other board.  And this thread is often me just posting and I get tired of talking to myself sometimes 😂.

They did just get a verbal commitment for a class of 27 kid from defending state champions Kimberly - the Paper Makers - not sure if anyone cares about that 😀.

I care, and I always appreciate your updates, even if I don't comment myself. Keep posting!

Please keep posting, I'm excited about the girl from Kimberly . She had impressive numbers in the State Championship game in March. Her team was in the final 4 with some very good teams. Good sign that she was productive in a game with the bright lights on. Too bad she is only a junior. Maybe she can graduate early and join in June.

Important game tomorrow against Villanova especially after the home loss Monday to St. John's.  I'm hoping Forbes can play again.  They said on the broadcast Thursday that she missed the game at Xavier due to illness.  But I found it interesting she was still sitting on the bench - guess whatever she had isn't contagious?

Villanova is 5-0 in the BE so far.

Nice game today with 3 starters getting 20 or more points - Forbes and Mason with 20 and Halle Vice with a career high 32.  Vice had a double-double also for the 3rd straight game with 11 rebounds.  Vice was perfect from the field in the first half and her six 3 pointers doubled her personal high of three 3's in a game.

Villanova had been on a 10 game winning streak and was the only other undefeated BE team in the conference heading into this game besides UCONN.

Good bounce back this week at Xavier and versus Villanova after blowing the game vs. St. John's on Monday.

I'd say Vice might have a shot at BE POW but I'm sure that will go to a UCONN player but she should make the honor roll at least :).

Halle Vice did get BE POW - https://www.bigeast.com/news/2026/1/5/womens-basketball-bigeastwbb-weekly-honors-1-5-26-marquettes-vice-and-villanovas-henry-earn-weekly-awards.aspx

Thursday night is the Battle of the Birds as Marquette's website called it - the game will air on TruTV at 7p central as Marquette hosts Creighton.  Marquette really needs to win the rest of their home games with the exception of the game on 2/14 vs UCONN (because they have no shot in that one).

Congrats to MU star Natisha Hiedeman who is getting inducted into the M Club Hall of Fame this weekend - https://gomarquette.com/news/2026/1/6/marquette-athletics-announces-m-club-hall-of-fame-class

Honest question, what MUWBB players are in and could get in after Natasha? Blockton seems like the only other shoe in.

Checked it out before the game:

Kathy Andrykowski 76-80 and volleyball 76-79

Julie Sievers 1979-1983

Kristen Maskala 1991-1994 (she's way up on the scoring list considering she only played 3 seasons at MU)

Abbie Willenborg 1996-2000

Lisa Oldenburg 1996-2000

Krystal Ellis 2005-2009

Angel Robinson 2007-2011

And Coach Terri Mitchell also

Blockton maybe would be inducted at some point - not sure.

Andrykowski, Maskala and Willenborg are the numbers/banners the Women have up in the Al.

Still wish they'd put something up at the Al for Hiedeman playing in the WNBA.  They have a whole display for players in the NBA and Hiedeman was the only MU player in the WNBA for a long time and the MU women's team actually plays here.

Thanks, feel like if Ellis and Robinson are on there Brockton has to be. I just took a gander at the women's record book and her resume is arguably better than anyone's outside of Hiedeman

She's also the all-time leading scorer.  The two to hold that mark before her were Willenborg and Ellis who are in there.  She may go in next time which is two years from now I think.  Willenborg and Oldenburg played together and went in at different times.  Blockton also was the favorite to repeat as BE POY but then got hurt and Hiedeman then deservedly got that award.

Game versus Creighton was closer than it should have been early.  And MU had 7 turnovers to 4 field goals in the first quarter.  But a 15-2 third quarter was very nice 😀.  MU won this one easily and holds Creighton to a season low 49 points.  Olivia Porter matched her number with 23 points which was also a career high.

Nice to see Natisha Hiedeman shown during the Men's game today.  Congrats again to her for her induction today.

So I wouldn't recommend letting the other team start the game on a 19-0 run.  Wow was this game ugly and I seriously contemplated leaving at halftime.  If this is what it was like against Georgetown at home, I can't imagine what it's going to be like when UCONN comes to town.

In other news, Abby Cracknell was available yesterday for the first time since she got hurt in the season opener game.  She played briefly in yesterday's game.  Kennedi Perkins was also back after being out a few games.

Two road games coming up at St. John's and Butler and then they come back home to face last place DePaul.  It is weird to see DePaul at the bottom of the conference standings.

Marquette Fan

Skylar Forbes is out today but no idea why.  Jada Bediako is out for the second game in a row - think they said she was out with a concussion last game.

Abbey Cracknell hit a 3 at the end of the first quarter - nice to see after she got hurt in the first game and was out for awhile.

Marquette Fan

Forbes is not with the team for personal reasons - they just said that on the broadcast.

Personal reasons is a red flag of some kind, not good. How they explained Lowery's absence.

Could be a privacy thing.  I really have no idea why she missed today's game - will wait and see if she's at the game versus DePaul on Wednesday.
