Note this is oversimplified for the audience, it's much more technical programming issue then I really want to articulate...

Thanks for the additional information and for dumbing it down a little.  After listening to a couple more episodes of 13MTTM, I actually understood it.  Fascinating stuff.

Quote from: mu03eng on July 22, 2019, 01:08:13 PM... in real time they knowingly killed their only exit strategy back home should they have to abort. That's like diving at the deck of the aircraft carrier to catch a wire, you either land or you crash. Real smarts and guts to be sure.

Honestly, it's amazing that with all the size and weight limitations of the lunar module, it was able to accommodate two sets of huge balls.

For fun...a new Apollo 11 conspiracy /coincidence.

MLB gave the Astros permission to wear a special Apollo 11 hat at their July 22 Apollo 11 night versus the A's

One had to do a double take.

In the third inning ...while Niel Armstrong's son was adding color in the local TV booth ...
the Astros sent their 11th player of the inning to the plate
....at which point they then got their 11th hit ,
which scored their 11th run.

Astros won 11-1

Gerrit Cole won his 11th game with 11k's

and

Three Cubans (Diaz, Alvarez and Gurriel) hit Astro home runs...adding some typical conspiracy spice

BTW In his first 30 games (since coming up on June 22) Astro rookie Jordan Alvarez has 11 HRs and 35 RBIs...35 breaks the all time rookie record in first 30 games of 34 RBIs by Albert Pujols... it is worth watching this kids ABs...he is physically huge, but already a disciplined hitter....Air Jordan Alvarez will be special

Are you maybe thinking of Chris Kraft...the original flight director and an icon of NASA?

Gene Kranz gained fame due the vests, his many interviews, a book and the Apollo 13 movie....but actually he was a latter generation guy....

Chris was his mentor ...Chris almost invented mission control and its workings...Chris is the legend. NASA revered him

Actually Craft passed away yesterday, not Kranz

My phone "corrected" it...I typed in Kraft, it put in Craft.  Went too fast to go back and validate.

That's reasonable. But then why suspend him at all?

Maybe they had tried previous interventions and not had success, maybe fears that he would or had bet on the Bulls and needed to nip it in the bud decisively, it certainly wouldn't be the first time someone was punished privately to keep things out of the press.

Aliens very well may exist but I highly doubt they've been here. My dad spent a lot of time TDY in the Nevada desert....they ain't there

I have spent a lot of time in that same patch of Nevada desert and there is only bad coffee, sophisticated flying machines, and great low levels.

The Holocaust didn't happen.

The Sandy Hook massacre didn't actually happen.

A child sex ring was being run inside a DC pizza parlor.

Just good clean conspiracy-theory fun ... until some whack job went to shoot up the pizza parlor.

Very similar to the Seattle media protecting Russel Wilson's wild lifestyle after his "born again virgin" announcement.

I am not sure about Wilson being wild but he and his now ex lived at the same high rise as friends, Washington Square in Bellevue. Unfortunately, so did Golden Tate who was openly cavorting with Mrs Wilson (Tate was very quickly traded to Detroit once it was clear he was plowing Mrs Wilson.)

I thought it was too bad because I often saw the Wilson's at the adjacent Top Pot as well as eastside eateries where things looked normal.

Ya never know about people.

I love how people talk about "The Popular Vote"

It's essentially the same as saying, "But we had more base hits!"

Metrics matter.
